Bert Kreischer

Kreischer married LeeAnn Kreischer in December 2003. The couple has two daughters, Georgia, born in June 2004, and Ila, born in July 2006. Kreischer returned to touring stand-up comedy three days after the birth of his eldest daughter, later crediting his wife for managing their household during his early career on the road.

Kreischer has discussed his family life openly on stage and in interviews, including his daughter Ila's experience with dyslexia.

Kreischer attended Jesuit High School in Tampa before enrolling at Florida State University, where he majored in English and joined the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. During his sixth year at the university in 1997, The Princeton Review ranked Florida State University the top party school in the United States.

Following the ranking, Rolling Stone featured Kreischer in a six-page article titled "Bert Kreischer: The Undergraduate," naming him the top partyer at the nation's top party school. Director Oliver Stone optioned the film rights to Kreischer's life story based on the article. Although the initial development deal did not proceed, a submitted script was subsequently reworked and sold to National Lampoon, becoming the basis for the 2002 film National Lampoon's Van Wilder starring Ryan Reynolds.

Kreischer began performing stand-up comedy at Potbelly's, a nightclub in Tallahassee, Florida. After a tape of his performance reached a talent agent, he relocated to New York City, where he worked the door at the Boston Comedy Club and performed at open mics.

Kreischer developed a signature performance style characterized by energetic storytelling and performing shirtless on stage. His best-known routine recounts an alleged incident during a college trip to Russia where he inadvertently assisted members of the Russian mafia in robbing a train, earning him the nickname "The Machine."

His stand-up specials include Comfortably Dumb (2009) and The Machine (2016) on Showtime, followed by a series of Netflix specials including Secret Time (2018), Hey Big Boy (2020), Razzle Dazzle (2023), and Lucky (2025).

In television, Kreischer hosted the FX series Hurt Bert and went on to host Travel Channel programs such as Bert the Conqueror and Trip Flip. On Bert the Conqueror, Kreischer traveled across the United States riding extreme roller coasters and performing stunts despite having a fear of heights, including jumping off the Stratosphere tower in Las Vegas.

Under his production company, Berty Boy Productions, Kreischer produces and hosts the podcasts Bertcast and Open Tabs, as well as the YouTube cooking show Something's Burning. He also co-hosts the podcast 2 Bears, 1 Cave alongside fellow comedian Tom Segura.

In 2014, Kreischer published the memoir Life of the Party: Stories of a Perpetual Man-Child. In 2023, he made his feature film debut starring as himself in the action-comedy The Machine, which expanded upon his Russian train robbery story. He also created and starred in the comedy series Free Bert.
