De Almeida was born in Edmonton, Alberta, to Canadian parents and is of French, German, Indian, and Portuguese descent. When he was two years old, his family relocated to Tewksbury, Massachusetts, where he grew up as an only child. During his childhood, severe social anxiety led him to spend much of his time creating content from his bedroom, channeling his energy into online expression.

He was raised in a Catholic household but does not consider himself religious. De Almeida later relocated to New York City. He follows a vegan lifestyle after previously eating a pescatarian diet, and he keeps a pet praying mantis.

De Almeida began publishing videos to YouTube in 2010 before launching his dedicated BENOFTHEWEEK channel in 2013. His early comedic breakthrough came on TikTok, where his resemblance to actor Noah Centineo sparked a viral series of self-deprecating jokes in which he humorously labelled himself Centineo's less glamorous cousin.

His signature format evolved into fast-paced, surrealist sketches and offbeat lifestyle experiments. In addition to short-form comedy, he launched the podcast Drama Mama, using the platform to discuss internet culture, break down the production behind his comedic stunts, and address viral moments such as a 2021 prank filmed inside a Walmart store.

De Almeida has engaged in high-profile collaborative stunts across digital media. After receiving public criticism from online creator That Vegan Teacher over a challenge video, he travelled to Montreal to film a 24-hour mockumentary project resolving the dispute.

His video projects have also intersected with mainstream entertainment and major online personalities. He served as a guest host for Nickelodeon's Nick News television programming and, in July 2022, produced a viral stunt where he presented YouTube creator MrBeast with a massive inflatable Minion.
