Matt McCusker

McCusker grew up in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, spending his childhood in Garnet Valley after being born in Havertown. He earned an undergraduate business degree from Drexel University. Later, he returned to school for clinical training. In 2020, he completed a Master of Social Work degree at Bryn Mawr College.

He is married to Brittany McCusker, a police officer and podcast host. The couple has two daughters, Maya and Chloe. Drawing on his academic background and interest in mental health, McCusker created Psych Naw, an initiative focused on psychological well-being.

McCusker started performing stand-up in Philadelphia comedy clubs in 2011. In 2014, he won the annual Philly's Phunniest competition at the Helium Comedy Club.

In August 2023, he self-released his first hour-long stand-up special, The Speed of Light, on YouTube. The set tackled fatherhood, marriage, and fitness. On October 7, 2025, his follow-up special, Matt McCusker: A Humble Offering, debuted on Netflix.

In 2016, McCusker teamed up with fellow Pennsylvania comic Shane Gillis to start Matt and Shane's Secret Podcast. The show grew through word of mouth. By 2025, it reached the top spot on Patreon's global creator rankings, averaging over 5.5 million downloads per month.

In 2025, McCusker and Gillis agreed to a video distribution partnership with Spotify.

McCusker published his debut novel in 2018, Overlook: A Story About Drugs, Disappointment and the American Dream. The book explored blue-collar struggles through the lens of a local missing-person case.

McCusker appeared in several sketches in the comedy series Gilly and Keeves between 2021 and 2023 alongside Gillis and director John McKeever. In 2024, he joined the cast of the Netflix comedy Tires as Max the Bike Cop. In August 2025, he wrote, produced, and starred in The Papa John Paradox, a series of animated shorts directed by Frank Gidlewski.
