Kane Brown

Kane Brown has been married to singer Katelyn Jae since October 12, 2018. They married at Mint Springs Farm in Nolensville, Tennessee, after becoming engaged in 2017.

Brown and Jae have three children. Their daughters, Kingsley Rose and Kodi Jane, were born in 2019 and 2021, respectively, and their son, Krewe, was born in June 2024. Brown and Jae also recorded the duet "Thank God," which became a number-one Country Airplay hit.

Brown was raised by his mother, Tabatha Brown, and spent his childhood moving between northwest Georgia and the Chattanooga area. His father, who is African American and part Cherokee, has been incarcerated since 1996. Brown sometimes experienced homelessness and attended several schools before settling in Red Bank, Tennessee. He has a younger sister named Heidi Swafford.

Brown sang in a school choir with Lauren Alaina and became interested in country music after performing Chris Young's "Gettin' You Home" at a school talent show. He auditioned for American Idol and The X Factor USA, but left The X Factor after producers wanted him to join a boy band. In 2014, he began posting cover versions of country songs on social media.

Brown built his first large audience through homemade videos on Facebook and YouTube. His cover of Lee Brice's "I Don't Dance" attracted wide attention, while his September 2015 cover of George Strait's "Check Yes or No" received more than seven million views. A teaser for his original song "Used to Love You Sober" reached one million views in less than three hours and more than 11 million views within two weeks.

He raised money through Kickstarter to record the six-song EP Closer, which was released in June 2015 and entered the Top Country Albums chart. "Used to Love You Sober" helped lead to a recording deal with Sony Music Nashville, with Brown recording under the RCA Nashville label. His major-label EP Chapter 1 followed in 2016, before the release of his self-titled debut album later that year.

Brown's debut album, Kane Brown, included "Thunder in the Rain," "What Ifs" with Lauren Alaina, and "Heaven." "What Ifs" became a number-one hit on the Billboard Country Airplay chart and spent five weeks at number one on the Hot Country Songs chart. In October 2017, Brown became the first artist to top the Top Country Albums, Hot Country Songs, Country Airplay, Country Digital Song Sales, and Country Streaming Songs charts simultaneously.

His second studio album, Experiment, was released in November 2018 and became his first number-one album on the Billboard 200. He followed it with Mixtape, Vol. 1 in 2020 and Different Man in 2022. His fourth studio album, The High Road, was released in January 2025.

Brown's music combines country storytelling with pop, R&B, rock, and hip-hop influences. His deep baritone voice and contemporary production have helped him reach audiences beyond traditional country music. His catalog includes songs about love, family, hardship, identity, and emotional resilience.

He has collaborated with Lauren Alaina, Chris Young, Becky G, Khalid, Swae Lee, John Legend, and Marshmello. His collaborations include "One Thing Right" with Marshmello, "Be Like That" with Khalid and Swae Lee, "Lost in the Middle of Nowhere" with Becky G, and "Famous Friends" with Chris Young. "Miles on It," another collaboration with Marshmello, reached number one on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart and number four on the Hot Country Songs chart on its debut.

Brown won American Music Awards for Favorite Country Male Artist in 2018, 2019, and 2020, as well as awards for Favorite Country Album and Favorite Country Song in 2018. He won CMT Music Awards for the videos of "What Ifs," "Lose It," "Worship You," "Famous Friends," and "Thank God." In 2021, he became the first Black person to win Video of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards, receiving the honor for "Worldwide Beautiful." He was also included in the 2021 Time 100.

Brown has appeared as himself on programs including Ridiculousness, All That, The Voice, Barmageddon, and the CMT Music Awards. He played Robin in an episode of Fire Country and joined the cast of The Token Groomsman as Neil, marking his move into acting.
