Riley Green

Green learned to play and perform music from his grandfather, Buford Green, who ran the Golden Saw, a music hall housed in a converted sawmill. He performed there weekly and grew up around traditional country, bluegrass, and Southern gospel music. He later took up acoustic guitar and began writing songs of his own.

While attending Jacksonville State University, Green played quarterback for the Gamecocks' NCAA Division I football team. He was also a three-sport athlete in high school and appeared as a contestant on the CMT reality series Redneck Island.

Green released his self-titled EP in 2013, followed by additional EPs in 2015, 2016, and 2017. He signed with Big Machine Label Group in 2018, and his debut single for the label, "There Was This Girl," was released that year.

"There Was This Girl" became a major early success and reached No. 1 on the Country Airplay chart in April 2019. Green's early touring included Brad Paisley's 2019 World Tour, his own Get That Man a Beer shows, Jon Pardi's Heartache Medication Tour, and Jason Aldean's We Back Tour.

Green's debut studio album, Different 'Round Here, was released in 2019. It included "I Wish Grandpas Never Died," a song connected to his family history, and established the Southern perspective that became central to his songwriting. The album's title track was later re-recorded as a duet with Luke Combs.

Green also collaborated with Thomas Rhett on the chart-topping song "Half of Me" and with Justin Moore on "Everybody Get Along." In 2022 and 2023, he served as direct support for stadium tours by Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen. His second studio album, Ain't My Last Rodeo, arrived in 2023.

Green released his third studio album, Don't Mind If I Do, on October 18, 2024. The title track is a duet with Ella Langley, and the album includes the songs "Jesus Saves" and "Worst Way." A deluxe edition added six tracks to the original 18-song collection.

Green made his acting debut on CBS's Marshals, where he plays Garrett, a former Navy SEAL and a former teammate of characters Cal and Kayce. He also appeared in music and television programming including CMA Fest, the American Music Awards, and The Voice.

Green lives near his hometown of Jacksonville, Alabama. His hobbies include hunting and fishing, and friends in Alabama gave him the nickname "Riley Duckman" because of his passion for duck hunting.

His interest in the outdoors also led to his own hunting show, In the Hunt, on Dirt Road TV.

In late 2019, Green removed his song "Bury Me in Dixie" from streaming services after controversy over a lyric referencing Confederate general Robert E. Lee. He denied having a racial motive and described the lyric as an expression of pride in the heritage surrounding his upbringing.

Green later said that concerns about the song's audio quality, rather than an effort to avoid controversy, influenced its removal. The song returned to streaming services several months later.
