Becky G

Becky G began dating professional soccer player Sebastian Lletget in 2016 after they were introduced by her Power Rangers co-star Naomi Scott. They became engaged in December 2022, and their engagement ended in 2023. Before Lletget, she dated singer Austin Mahone in 2015.

Becky G has spoken about anxiety and panic attacks. She has also discussed how her family supported her while she dealt with mental-health challenges.

Becky G began pursuing entertainment after her family lost their home when she was nine and moved into a converted garage at her grandparents' house. She worked in commercials, voiceovers and modeling to help support her family. Bullying later led her to switch from public school to home schooling.

She began writing music at 11, experimenting with rap at 12, and taught herself to play guitar at 13. She posted cover versions of popular songs on YouTube, including Kanye West and Jay-Z's "Otis." The video caught the attention of producer Dr. Luke, and she signed with Kemosabe Records through RCA Records in 2011.

Before her solo breakthrough, she appeared in El Tux and La estación de la Calle Olvera, joined the girl groups G.L.A.M. and B.C.G., and worked with the production duo The Jam. Her first releases included the single "Becky from the Block" and the 2013 EP Play It Again. Jennifer Lopez made a cameo in the video for "Becky from the Block."

Becky G reached mainstream success with "Shower" in 2014. The single entered the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 and received a multi-platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. Her early collaborations included songs with will.i.am, Cody Simpson, Cher Lloyd and Pitbull, while she also toured with Katy Perry, Demi Lovato and Fifth Harmony.

She moved more decisively into Spanish-language music with "Sola" in 2016. Her Spanish-language hits included "Mayores" with Bad Bunny and "Sin Pijama" with Natti Natasha. She has said that making music in Spanish helped her reconnect with her heritage, even though she felt her Spanish was not perfect when she began.

Her debut studio album, Mala Santa, was released in 2019 and reached the top five of the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart. Her second album, Esquemas, followed in 2022 and debuted at number one on the Latin Pop Albums chart. The album included "MAMIII," her collaboration with Karol G, which reached the top five of the Billboard Global 200 and became her highest-charting single on the Hot 100.

Becky G explored regional Mexican music on Esquinas in 2023 and Encuentros in 2024. Esquinas drew on mariachi and corridos tumbados and paid tribute to her Mexican-American heritage and grandparents. Its song "Por el Contrario," performed with Ángela Aguilar and Leonardo Aguilar, topped the Latin Airplay and Regional Mexican Airplay charts.

Becky G made her major film debut as Trini, the Yellow Ranger, in Power Rangers (2017). The character was presented as queer, making Trini one of the first queer superheroes in a big-budget superhero film. Becky G also appeared as Valentina Galindo in two episodes of Empire and contributed songs to the show's soundtrack.

Her other screen credits include the animated film Gnome Alone (2017), the science-fiction adventure film A.X.L. (2018), and the comedy Good Mourning (2022). She voiced Khaji-Da in Blue Beetle (2023). She also hosted the 2019 MTV Europe Music Awards and co-hosted the Latin American Music Awards in several years.

In 2020, she hosted and executive produced the Amazon Music podcast En La Sala. She later hosted and executive produced the Facebook Watch talk show Face to Face with Becky G, whose first guest was Demi Lovato. The documentary Rebbeca, focused on her personal life and the making of Esquinas, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2025.

Becky G became a CoverGirl representative in 2013 and later released the Salvaje makeup collection with ColourPop Cosmetics. In 2021, she launched Treslúce Beauty, a cosmetics brand inspired by her Mexican roots, with packaging influenced by Talavera pottery and product names in English and Spanish. The brand became available at Ulta Beauty stores in 2022.

She joined the ownership group of Angel City FC of the National Women's Soccer League in 2020. Her other commercial projects have included collections or partnerships with PrettyLittleThing, Dime Optics, Patrón, Fabletics, Garnier and Walmart. She was named creative director of swimwear brand Gonza in 2023.

Her advocacy has focused on immigrant rights, gender equality, mental health, LGBTQ+ rights, voting and music education. She released "We Are Mexico" in response to remarks about Mexican immigrants, supported DACA and voting campaigns, and became a co-chair of Michelle Obama's When We All Vote organization in 2022. She has also worked with Save the Music Foundation to support music programs in public schools.
