Personal life
Antonio Cipriano grew up in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. He has Italian and Lebanese heritage, with roots tracing back to Palermo, Sicily. He attended local schools and graduated from University Liggett School in 2018.
He dated Broadway performer Reneé Rapp from 2019 to 2021. Since August 2023, he has been in a relationship with performer Justine Verheul.
Stage career and Jagged Little Pill
Cipriano began singing with the Michigan Opera Theatre Children's Chorus. School plays followed. In 2017, he represented Michigan at the National High School Musical Theater Awards, also called the Jimmy Awards, where he finished in fourth place. He also won a Sutton Foster Ovation Award for his high school stage work.
In 2018, Cipriano joined the world premiere of Jagged Little Pill at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He originated the role of Phoenix. The production transferred to Broadway at the Broadhurst Theatre in late 2019 and received fifteen Tony Award nominations. Cipriano shared in the show's Grammy Award win for Best Musical Theater Album as a principal vocalist on the original cast recording.
In September 2021, Cipriano announced he would leave Jagged Little Pill, citing allegations of mistreatment directed at non-binary cast members. Outside that show, he took part in a 2019 staged reading of The Notebook musical as Young Noah, played Prince Topher in Cinderella at Westport Country Playhouse, and performed in the staged concert run of In Pieces.
Television and film
Television appearances began alongside his stage work. In 2019, Cipriano appeared in episodes of CBS's God Friended Me and Showtime's drama City on a Hill. Guest parts continued with Max's comedy The Sex Lives of College Girls in 2021.
In 2022, he starred as Oren Bradley in the Disney+ series National Treasure: Edge of History. Other television roles followed. He played Buck Renna in the 2023 Prime Video miniseries Harlan Coben's Shelter and portrayed Johnny in Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin.
Cipriano was cast as hockey player John Logan in the Prime Video adaptation Off Campus. In film, he made his feature debut portraying Young Vito in the 2025 mob drama The Alto Knights.
