Debby Ryan

Ryan began dating Twenty One Pilots drummer Josh Dun in May 2013, and following a period of separation, the couple resumed their relationship and married in Austin, Texas, on December 31, 2019. The couple announced the birth of their daughter, Felix Winter Dun, in December 2025.

In April 2016, Ryan was arrested for driving under the influence in Los Angeles. She pleaded no contest to reckless driving in June 2016 and received three years of probation, community service, and mandatory attendance in a DUI education program.

Ryan is fluent in German, having spent several years of her childhood residing on an American military base in Germany.

Ryan was born in Huntsville, Alabama, on May 13, 1993, to Sandy and Chris Ryan. Her father's employment as a civilian consultant for the U.S. military led the family to live in several European locations, including Wiesbaden, Germany, where Ryan lived until age ten. She began performing in professional theater productions on an American military base at age seven before the family relocated to Texas.

In 2006, Ryan made her television debut in Barney & Friends, followed by an appearance in the 2007 direct-to-video film Barney: Let's Go to the Firehouse. Her first major feature film role came in the 2008 sports comedy-drama The Longshots, where she played Edith Smith alongside Keke Palmer and Ice Cube.

Ryan's breakthrough came in 2008 when she was cast as Bailey Pickett in The Suite Life on Deck, a sequel series to The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. Co-starring with Brenda Song, Cole Sprouse, and Dylan Sprouse, Ryan remained with the show throughout its three-season run until 2011 and reprised her role in The Suite Life Movie. During this period, she starred as Abby Jensen in the 2010 Disney Channel Original Movie 16 Wishes and portrayed Tara Adams in the 2012 musical comedy-drama Radio Rebel.

In September 2011, Ryan debuted as the titular nanny Jessie Prescott in the Disney Channel sitcom Jessie, a series she helped develop and produce. During the show's run from 2011 to 2015, Ryan directed four episodes, beginning with the season three episode "Coffee Talk," making her the youngest female director of a Disney Channel production.

Ryan expanded into more mature television and film roles following her Disney tenure. In 2016, she played Holli Holiday in the YouTube Red satire series Sing It! and held recurring roles in NBC's The Mysteries of Laura and VH1's Daytime Divas. From 2018 to 2019, she starred as Patty Bladell in the Netflix dark comedy series Insatiable.

Her film credits include appearances in the 2018 comedy Life of the Party, the 2020 psychological drama Horse Girl opposite Alison Brie, the comedy The Opening Act, and the 2021 vampire thriller Night Teeth. She reunited with Brie for the 2022 comedy Spin Me Round and appeared in Randall Park's 2023 directorial debut, Shortcomings.

Ryan contributed multiple vocal performances to her Disney soundtracks, including "A Wish Comes True Everyday" for 16 Wishes and a cover of The Go-Go's "We Got the Beat" for Radio Rebel. In July 2011, she released her debut solo single, "We Ended Right," through Ryan River Studio, an independent label she founded with her brother Chase Ryan.

In 2012, Ryan formed the indie rock band The Never Ending alongside guitarist Kyle Moore and drummer Johnny Franco. The band released their debut single, "Mulholland Drive," in June 2014, followed by the circus-themed EP One. In 2015, The Never Ending toured across North America as an opening act for Fifth Harmony's Reflection Tour.
