Zach Top

Zach Top grew up on a dairy farm and ranch in Sunnyside, Washington, surrounded by classic country music from artists including Marty Robbins, George Jones and George Strait. He received his first guitar at age three and began lessons at age five. When his first teacher asked what he wanted to learn, he requested George Strait's "Amarillo by Morning."

At age seven, Top joined his siblings in the family bluegrass band Top String. He played guitar while his siblings played bass, mandolin and fiddle, and the group toured the festival circuit for about a decade. He later performed with other bluegrass groups, including Modern Tradition, which won the 2017 SPBGMA International Band Competition.

Top studied mechanical engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder after moving to Boulder in 2015, but left after one year because he was not interested in the field. He worked to save money for a move to Nashville, where he hoped to pursue country and bluegrass music. He began recording as a solo artist in 2019 and released the self-titled Zach Top EP in 2022.

A 2018 video of Top singing Daryle Singletary's "Spilled Whiskey" as a tribute to the late singer went viral. The video helped draw attention to Top as a potential solo country artist and led to a mentorship with singer, songwriter and producer Carson Chamberlain. Top also developed his songwriting with Chamberlain, Wyatt McCubbin and Mark Cubbin. He moved permanently to Nashville in 2021 and signed a publishing deal with Major Bob Music.

Top's country breakthrough began with "Sounds Like the Radio," released in January 2024. The song was co-written with Carson Chamberlain and Wyatt McCubbin, drew on Top's admiration for 1990s country, and became the most-added song at country radio upon release. It later reached the top 20 of the Billboard Country Airplay chart.

His debut studio album, Cold Beer & Country Music, was released on April 5, 2024, through Leo33 and was produced by Carson Chamberlain. Songs associated with the album include "I Never Lie," "Bad Luck," "There's the Sun," "Use Me" and "The Kinda Woman I Like." Top's second Leo33 album, Ain't in It for My Health, was released on August 29, 2025, preceded by "Good Times & Tan Lines."

Top made his Grand Ole Opry debut on July 27, 2022, performing "Cold Beer and Country Music." He later toured with Ashley McBryde and opened shows for Lainey Wilson, Luke Bryan, Brothers Osborne and Dwight Yoakam. He also joined Dierks Bentley's Broken Branches Tour as a supporting act.

Top headlined the Cold Beer & Country Music Tour, with Jake Worthington and Andy Buckner among its support acts. His live work has accompanied the expansion of his traditional country audience, while his stated musical aim centers on fiddles, steel guitars and twanging Telecasters.

Top has been in a relationship with Amelia Taylor since late 2024. They made their red carpet debut together at the CMA Awards in November 2024 and attended the 2025 ACM Awards together.
