Alisha Weir

Weir was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. She began acting at the age of three and developed her interest in performance through drama classes.

Her early work included appearances in Irish theatre productions and a performance on The Late Late Toy Show, where she sang a cover of Justin Timberlake's "True Colors."

Weir began her professional theatre career in 2017, playing Ivanka in the musical Once at Dublin's Olympia Theatre. She later appeared in productions of Annie, The Wizard of Oz, and Oliver!.

Her feature-film debut came in the 2018 thriller Don't Leave Home, in which she played Siobhan Callahan. She made her television debut as Laura in the crime drama Darklands in 2019 and later provided the voice of Primrose in Two by Two: Overboard! and Fia in the television series Fia's Fairies.

At eleven, Weir was cast as Matilda Wormwood in Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical, the 2022 film adaptation of the stage musical. The role became her breakout performance and established her as a leading young screen actor.

She also performed several songs for the film's soundtrack, including "Miracle," "Naughty," "Naughty (Reprise)," "When I Grow Up," "I'm Here," "Quiet," and "Still Holding My Hand." Her work on the film earned the 2022 Dublin Film Critics' Circle Breakthrough Artist award, along with nominations from the London Film Critics' Circle and the Irish Film & Television Academy.

Weir played the title role in the 2024 horror film Abigail. The part required her to portray both the character's innocent persona and her later manipulative vampire identity, including dialogue in an American accent.

She trained in ballet for the production and performed most of her own stunts, including wire work. Her performance brought nominations for a Fangoria Chainsaw Award, a Critics' Choice Movie Award, a Saturn Award, and an Irish Film & Drama Award.

Weir's film credits include Day Out, Wicked Little Letters, Buffalo Kids, and the upcoming animated feature The Land of Sometimes, in which she voices Elise. She is also listed for the role of Juliet in The Last Days of Rabbit Hayes and Nel in Underdogs.

Her stage work includes the title role in the 2025 London production of Mary Page Marlowe at The Old Vic. In April 2024, she was named to Forbes' 30 Under 30 list.
