Michael Bublé

Bublé has been married to Argentine actress Luisana Lopilato since 2011. They have four children, sons Noah and Elias and daughters Vida and Cielo. Lopilato appeared in the music video for Bublé's song "Haven't Met You Yet," which he co-wrote while they were dating.

In 2016, Noah was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma, a form of liver cancer. Bublé cancelled his planned tour and stepped away from music while his son underwent treatment. Noah later recovered, and Bublé returned to performing in 2018.

Bublé grew up in Burnaby, British Columbia, in a family with Italian and Croatian roots. His grandfather, Demetrio Santagà, introduced him to jazz and big band music through his record collection and supported his early performances by exchanging plumbing services for stage time at nightclubs.

Bublé began singing in nightclubs at 16. At 17, he won the British Columbia Youth Talent Search after being disqualified from an earlier local contest for being underage. He later worked in a range of venues, including clubs, conventions, cruise ships, hotel lounges, and shopping malls. He also spent six years working during the summers on commercial fishing boats with his father.

His early influences included Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald, Stevie Wonder, Elvis Presley, Bobby Darin, and Sam Cooke. His first independent recordings were First Dance in 1996, BaBalu in 2001, and Dream in 2002.

Bublé's major breakthrough followed a performance at a business party in 2000 that impressed Michael McSweeney, an aide to former Canadian prime minister Brian Mulroney. McSweeney passed Bublé's independent album to Mulroney and his wife, Mila, who invited him to sing at their daughter Caroline's wedding.

At the wedding, Bublé met producer and record executive David Foster. Foster signed him to 143 Records in 2001 and produced Bublé's first major-label album, Michael Bublé, released in 2003. The album included standards such as "Fever," "The Way You Look Tonight," "Moondance," and "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?" It became a worldwide success and helped establish Bublé as a contemporary interpreter of classic popular music.

Bublé's early stage career also included musical theatre. He appeared with Debbie Timuss in Red Rock Diner in 1996 and Forever Swing in 1998. Timuss later appeared in the video for his song "Home," which Bublé co-wrote during their relationship.

Bublé's breakthrough album, It's Time, was released in 2005. It combined standards such as "Feeling Good," "Save the Last Dance for Me," and "Quando, Quando, Quando" with the original ballad "Home," co-written by Bublé, Alan Chang, and Amy Foster-Gillies. The album reached number one in Canada, Italy, Japan, and the Billboard Top Jazz chart, and remained on that jazz chart for 104 weeks.

His later albums Call Me Irresponsible (2007), Crazy Love (2009), Christmas (2011), To Be Loved (2013), Nobody but Me (2016), Love (2018), and Higher (2022) continued his use of standards alongside original songs. Call Me Irresponsible, Crazy Love, To Be Loved, and Higher each won the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, while Michael Bublé Meets Madison Square Garden won the same award for a live release.

Bublé's holiday album Christmas spent five weeks at number one on the Billboard 200 across the end of 2011 and beginning of 2012. He has also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, an induction into Canada's Walk of Fame, and recognition in the British Columbia Entertainment Hall of Fame.

Bublé represented Canada in the 2010 Winter Olympics torch relay and performed at the closing ceremony in Vancouver. He has also appeared in television specials and programmes including The X Factor, Saturday Night Live, Strictly Come Dancing, and Dancing with the Stars.

A lifelong Vancouver Canucks supporter, Bublé became a co-owner of the Vancouver Giants hockey team in 2008. His interest in hockey began during childhood, when he attended Vancouver Canucks games with his father and hoped to become a professional player.

In 2024, Bublé joined The Voice as a coach. His artists won the show's 26th and 27th seasons, making him the winning coach in each of his first two seasons.
