Maria Bartiromo

Maria Bartiromo has been married to Jonathan Steinberg since June 13, 1999. Steinberg is the chief executive officer of WisdomTree Investments and the son of financier Saul Steinberg. Their wedding ceremony was held at the bridegroom's home and was officiated by a rabbi.

Bartiromo was raised in Brooklyn by Vincent and Josephine Bartiromo. Her father owned the Rex Manor restaurant, where she worked in the coat check during her youth.

Bartiromo began her television career with an internship at CNN and subsequently spent five years there as an executive producer and assignment editor for CNN Business. Lou Dobbs supervised her work at CNN, and she also worked as a production assistant for Stuart Varney.

She joined CNBC in 1993 and began reporting from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange while contributing to Market Watch and Squawk Box. In 1995, she became the first journalist to report live on television daily from the exchange floor. The role made her a prominent figure in financial television and led to the nickname “Money Honey.”

At CNBC, Bartiromo hosted Closing Bell, On the Money with Maria Bartiromo, Market Wrap, and Business Center. She also hosted The Business of Innovation and became known for interviewing chief executives of companies in the news.

Bartiromo left CNBC in 2013 to join Fox Business, where she first hosted Opening Bell with Maria Bartiromo. Her coverage expanded from stock-market news to public policy and broader economic issues. She later hosted Mornings with Maria and Maria Bartiromo's Wall Street on Fox Business, as well as Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo on Fox News.

She moderated two Republican presidential debates for Fox Business during the 2016 nomination contest. Her broadcasting became increasingly aligned with Donald Trump, and she conducted his first television interview after his defeat in the 2020 presidential election.

Bartiromo was named in defamation litigation brought against Fox News by Smartmatic over election-fraud claims broadcast by the network. She was also named in Dominion Voting Systems' defamation lawsuit against Fox News, which the network settled after acknowledging that statements broadcast about Dominion's voting machines were false.

Bartiromo's books include Use the News: How to Separate the Noise from the Investment Nuggets and Make Money in Any Economy (2001), The 10 Laws of Enduring Success (2010), The Weekend That Changed Wall Street (2011), and The Cost: Trump, China, and American Renewal (2020), which she co-wrote with James Freeman.

She has received two Emmy Awards, including one for breaking-news coverage and another for business and economic reporting. Her honors also include a Gracie Award, an Excellence in Broadcast Journalism Award, and induction into the Cable Hall of Fame in 2011.

Bartiromo has served as a trustee of New York University, taught at the NYU Stern School of Business, and delivered the school's commencement address in 2012. The Maria Bartiromo Broadcast Journalism Studio at Fontbonne Hall Academy, her former high school, bears her name.

Bartiromo appeared as herself in the documentary Risk/Reward and in the films The Taking of Pelham 123, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, Inside Job, and Arbitrage. She also appeared in the 2024 film Buy Now! The Shopping Conspiracy.

Joey Ramone wrote a song titled “Maria Bartiromo,” which appeared on his posthumously released solo album Don't Worry About Me.
