Personal life and health

Timpf married Cameron Friscia on May 1, 2021, after meeting him on the dating app Raya. Former MTV host Lisa Kennedy officiated the ceremony. Timpf walked down the aisle to Adam Sandler's song "I Wanna Grow Old With You". Her husband served in the military before working in New York investment management. Timpf credits his active co-parenting with sustaining her career through major life changes.

In July 2024, Timpf announced she was expecting her first child. The pregnancy proved physically demanding. She broke her hip during the term and worked on crutches. On February 25, 2025, she gave birth to a son. Just 15 hours before the delivery, doctors diagnosed her with Stage 0 breast cancer. She chose to undergo a double mastectomy. In June 2025, Timpf returned to television cancer-free.

Timpf grew up in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Daniel and Ann Marie Timpf, alongside two siblings, Julia and Elliot. Her mother died in 2014 from cardiac amyloidosis. Raised Roman Catholic, Timpf moved away from religious practice at age 17.

Journalism and television career

Timpf graduated magna cum laude from Hillsdale College in 2010 with a degree in English. She started out reporting on college campus issues for CampusReform.org. Broad reporting roles followed. She worked as a digital editor for The Washington Times, produced reports for Total Traffic Network in California, and anchored broadcasts on NASA's Third Rock Radio. In 2012, The Fund for American Studies awarded her a Robert Novak Journalism Fellowship grant to study California state policy.

She appeared frequently on Red Eye, Stossel, and America Live with Megyn Kelly. In May 2017, Timpf debuted as co-host of the afternoon program Fox News Specialists alongside Eric Bolling and Eboni K. Williams. The show ended four months later following Bolling's departure from the network. Timpf became a regular on Greg Gutfeld's weekend program, staying on as it transitioned into the weeknight show Gutfeld!. In 2019, Fox Nation launched her series, Sincerely, Kat, where she answers viewer questions. She also co-hosted the weekly Fox News Radio podcast Tyrus and Timpf alongside professional wrestler Tyrus from 2018 through 2023.

Stand-up comedy and books

Alongside television, Timpf performed stand-up sets across American comedy clubs and contributed humor columns to publications such as National Review Online and Barstool Sports. In 2024, she launched the "I Used to Like You" comedy tour, headlining venues including the Scherr Forum Theatre in Thousand Oaks, California.

Timpf released her debut book, You Can't Joke About That, in April 2023. The book explored free speech, grief, and the role of humor across political divides. It reached The New York Times bestseller list. Her follow-up book, I Used to Like You Until..., was published in September 2024 and examined tribalism and binary political thinking. It also became a bestseller.
