Personal life
Josiah Queen married Trinity Joy in 2023. They met as teenagers when Queen visited Trinity's family's church in Iowa, then maintained a long-distance relationship while she lived in Iowa and he lived in Florida for three and a half years.
Queen and Trinity travel together and minister through his touring work. Trinity preaches the Gospel during part of his concert set, while Queen performs music. They are based in Florida.
Faith, songwriting and early performances
Queen began writing music at nine, initially creating melodies from the Psalms at a piano. He started leading worship at 13 and played in the worship band at the church where he grew up. His parents are pastors, and his mother also led a traveling ministry in which Queen performed worship music at churches.
Queen released his first single, "God of Miracles," in 2020, when he was 16. He later gained attention with "I Am Barabbas," a song based on a biblical narrative that accumulated millions of views on social platforms and appeared on Billboard's list of the Top 50 Hottest Christian Songs.
The Prodigal and the 2024 breakthrough
Queen released his debut album, The Prodigal, on May 24, 2024. The album reached No. 1 on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart, while its title track became a breakout song and was nominated for Pop/Contemporary Song of the Year at the 2024 GMA Dove Awards.
The title track also received a Billboard Music Awards nomination and a K-LOVE Fan Awards nomination for Breakout Single of the Year. Queen was nominated for New Artist of the Year at the GMA Dove Awards and was named one of Amazon Music's Breakthrough Artists to Watch for 2024.
His first headline run, The Prodigal Tour, sold out across 24 cities. He also toured as a supporting performer on Forrest Frank's Child of God Tour, an experience Queen described as an important introduction to professional touring.
Capitol CMG and *Mt. Zion*
Queen signed with Capitol Christian Music Group in 2025 and released "Can't Steal My Joy," featuring Brandon Lake, as his first single with the label. The song reached No. 1 at Christian radio. He followed it with "Yesterday Is Dead" and the album Mt. Zion, released on August 22, 2025.
Queen has also collaborated with artists including Forrest Frank, Avery Anna, Benjamin William Hastings and Strings and Heart. His touring projects have included the My Promised Land Tour with Strings and Heart and the Mt. Zion Tour with Jervis Campbell and Gable Price.
A folk-influenced Christian sound
Queen's music blends contemporary Christian worship with folk, Americana, pop and acoustic elements. He has cited Phil Wickham, UNITED and Rend Collective among the Christian artists who influenced him, while Zach Bryan, Noah Kahan, Caamp and Mumford & Sons helped shape his interest in folk and country sounds.
