Fridayy

Francis LeBlanc grew up in the Olney neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, raised in a Haitian household. His father, a pastor and musician, introduced him to church services where music played a central role. By age six, LeBlanc began teaching himself instruments by ear, eventually mastering the piano, guitar, drums, and bass without learning to read traditional sheet music. He also began singing in church youth choirs by age nine or ten.

During his early teens, LeBlanc was an active basketball player competing at shooting guard before a physical injury redirected his primary ambitions toward music. At age fourteen, his cousin Marco introduced him to digital audio production and gave him his first laptop. LeBlanc adopted the stage name Fridayy prior to attending college, deriving inspiration from the stage names of Canadian R&B artists The Weeknd and PartyNextDoor. He attended a Penn State University branch between 2015 and 2017 to appease his family before leaving school to pursue music production full time.

In 2019, Fridayy relocated to Los Angeles to pursue professional opportunities as a songwriter and producer. After an initial publishing deal with Big Noise Music Group faced obstacles, his manager Edgar Cutino connected with Eddie Fourcell at Prescription Songs to arrange a deal buyout. Around that time, Fridayy composed a vocal hook over a standalone piano track after seeing producer DJ Khaled share motivational clips online.

Fourcell forwarded the recording to Khaled, who selected the hook to anchor the title track of his 2022 album God Did. The song featured verses from Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, and John Legend, reaching number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and securing three Grammy Award nominations at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards. The success brought immediate industry attention, prompting Def Jam Recordings chairman and chief executive officer Tunji Balogun to sign Fridayy to the label.

Following his breakout, Fridayy contributed production and songwriting to Chris Brown's 2022 album Breezy and provided featured vocals on Lil Baby's top-ten single "Forever". In October 2022, he released his debut extended play, Lost in Melody, which included a guest appearance from singer Vory. In 2023, he was selected as part of the annual XXL Freshman Class, performing his freestyle accompanied by a live six-person vocal choir.

Fridayy released his self-titled debut studio album, Fridayy, in August 2023. The album featured collaborations with Chris Brown on "Don't Give It Away" and produced the solo single "When It Comes to You", which marked his first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 as a lead artist and earned platinum certification from the RIAA. In 2024, he served as a supporting act on Buju Banton's The Overcomer Tour. He followed in February 2025 with his second studio album, Some Days I'm Good, Some Days I'm Not, featuring the Meek Mill collaboration "Proud of Me".
