Ewan Horrocks

Horrocks grew up in Halifax, West Yorkshire, with his younger sister. His father is half-Scottish, which inspired his Gaelic first name. Despite sharing a surname with actress Jane Horrocks, he is no relation. He attended The Brooksbank School and worked as a lifeguard at a local swimming pool before pursuing acting full-time.

He wanted to act from a young age. At 16, he joined the National Youth Theatre and began formal acting lessons. He later trained at the Manchester School of Acting, where he secured talent representation, and completed sixth-form studies in English literature, photography, and media studies.

Horrocks made his television debut in the Sky Atlantic historical series Domina, playing Young Drusus across multiple episodes. Filming was paused during the COVID-19 pandemic before resuming in Italy.

In October 2020, he submitted a self-tape audition for the fifth season of The Last Kingdom. After a Zoom call with producers, he flew to Budapest to join the cast as Ælfweard, a Saxon prince groomed by his grandfather for the throne of Wessex. He reprised the role in the 2023 feature sequel The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die.

Horrocks moved into feature films with the lead role of Helmuth Hübener in Truth & Treason. The biographical drama chronicles the German teenager who distributed anti-Nazi leaflets during the Second World War.

He joined the cast of The Yellow Tie to portray the younger version of conductor Sergiu Celibidache alongside John Malkovich. Other television credits include the Italian period drama Miss Fallaci, the thriller series Lazarus, and Channel 4's adaptation of A Woman of Substance, appearing as Edwin Fairley alongside Brenda Blethyn and Emmett J. Scanlan.
