Charlie Bushnell

Charlie Ray Bushnell was born in Los Angeles, California. He began making movies with friends after receiving a camera at age 10 and took part in elementary and middle school plays.

Bushnell studied acting at Ruskin Academy and John Rosenfeld Studios. He became interested in acting after watching Stranger Things while home sick from school, and he has cited his father, musician Paul Bushnell, as a major inspiration.

Bushnell made his screen debut in the short film Je Suis Ici in 2018, playing Austin. He later appeared as Hicks in the 2020 short film Wetworks.

His breakthrough role came in the Disney+ series Diary of a Future President, where he played Bobby Cañero-Reed across 20 episodes from 2020 to 2021. Bobby is the older brother of Tess Romero's character, Elena Cañero-Reed, and the series was produced by Gina Rodriguez.

In 2024, Bushnell took his first animated voice role as Chase in Peacock's In the Know. He later voiced Rylee Lawson in Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord.

Bushnell was cast as Luke Castellan in Disney+'s Percy Jackson and the Olympians in 2022. He began appearing as the character in the series in 2023, initially in a recurring role before being promoted to series regular for the second season.

His portrayal of Luke was influenced by Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars, particularly Hayden Christensen's performance. Bushnell has also identified The Battle of the Labyrinth as his favorite book in the Percy Jackson series.

Bushnell has described his musical taste as broad, ranging from music of the 1940s to Drake. He plays instruments and has performed "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath.

Outside acting, he plays soccer and tennis. He has also said that he loves dogs, used to play Fortnite frequently in middle school, and hopes to visit all seven continents.
