Alex Consani is an American model and actress known for her runway work, social media comedy, and visibility as a transgender figure in fashion. She began modeling as a child and later became the first transgender person to win the Fashion Award for Model of the Year.

Early life

Alex Monette Consani was born on July 23, 2003, in Petaluma, California. She began wearing feminine clothing at age four and chose the name Alex at age eight. She underwent hormone replacement therapy during puberty and began modeling in early 2015 after her mother found an advertisement for Slay Model Management, a Los Angeles agency representing transgender models. At age 12, she became the youngest transgender model in the world at the time.

A 2016 profile in Cosmopolitan Germany went viral online. At age 13, Consani appeared in a photoshoot with Dominique Jackson. She graduated from Petaluma High School in 2021 and attended Pace University with scholarships from the Petaluma Educational Foundation, Alphabet Soup Thrift Store, and the MacIlvain Family Scholarship.

Career

Consani signed with IMG Models in August 2019, when she was 16, and moved to New York City at 18. She made her runway debut for Tom Ford in New York in 2021. Her runway credits include Versace, Alexander McQueen, Boss by Hugo Boss, Burberry, Chloé, Roberto Cavalli, Coperni, Chanel, Stella McCartney, and other major fashion houses. GLAAD included her on its 20 Under 20 list in 2022, recognizing young LGBTQ changemakers.

Vogue named Consani one of the standout models of the Spring/Summer 2023 season. She appeared in Victoria's Secret's The Tour '23 and was the face of Jean Paul Gaultier's collaboration with Knwls. She was also the exclusive model for Conner Ives's Spring/Summer 2024 collection with Depop, titled Late Capitalism.

In 2024, Consani and Valentina Sampaio became the first transgender models to walk in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. In December of that year, Consani became the first transgender person to win the Fashion Award for Model of the Year.

TikTok and Gen-Z humor

Consani began posting on TikTok in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic under the username captincroook. She also used the name Miss Mawma and the account identity @ms.mawma. Her absurdist, Gen Z-focused comedy videos, including public subway dances and deliberately chaotic sketches, helped establish a second career alongside modeling.

She had more than 700,000 followers by 2022, more than 1.4 million by 2023, and more than two million followers and 150 million likes across her videos by early 2024. Her engagement rate of 21.5 percent was the highest listed on the 2023 Forbes Top Creators Fashion 50 list. Her TikTok persona has made her recognizable for her loud, playful humor as well as her work on the runway.

Music videos and acting

Consani appeared in the music video for JT's song "Okay" in April 2024 and in Charli XCX's "360" in May 2024. She later appeared in Doja Cat's "Gorgeous" music video in 2025.

Her screen credits include the 2023 short film Paradigm Trilogy: Recognition Vs. Expression and the 2025 short film The Tiger, in which she played herself. She is also credited in the film Peaked and the television series American Horror Story: 13.

Public image

Consani has been described as a fashion "It Girl" by E! News, Bustle, and PinkNews. Her bleached hair, bleached brows, expressive features, and distinctive runway walk have become closely associated with her public image. Her online comedy and fashion work have made her a prominent transgender model and creator.

She was included on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in December 2024 and on Time's inaugural Time 100 Creators list in 2025. Her career has combined mainstream runway opportunities with a highly personal, humorous social media presence.
