Shep Rose

Rose was in a relationship with Taylor Ann Green from March 2020 until July 2022. He had previously been in a short relationship with Danni Baird and was linked to Chelsea Meissner in 2016.

He was raised in a family that included his parents, Frances Rose and William Shepard "Rip" Rose Jr., and his siblings Katherine Cummings Trotter and Whitaker Boykin Rose. His family moved to Sea Pines on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, when he was two.

Rose attended Hilton Head Preparatory School and Episcopal High School. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a business degree in 2002 and earned a Master of Business Administration in finance from Vanderbilt University's Owen Graduate School of Management in 2009. He was a member of the Chi Phi fraternity at the University of Georgia.

Before his television career, Rose worked as a real estate agent while living in Dubai. He later became the owner of The Commodore, a bar and grill in Charleston, and a co-owner of The Palace Hotel and The Alley. In 2016, he started the coastal clothing line Shep Gear with Jason Benjamin and Claude Pope.

Rose joined Southern Charm as a main cast member in its first season, which premiered in 2014. His cast associates have included Cameran Eubanks, Thomas Ravenel, Craig Conover, and Austen Kroll. He also appeared with Conover and Hunter Gardner in the web series Shepic Fail.

Rose led the spin-off RelationShep, which followed his efforts to navigate relationships. His other television appearances include Watch What Happens Live! with Andy Cohen, Pickler & Ben, Vanderpump Rules, Summer House, Good Morning America, Home & Family, and Southern Hospitality.

Rose made his film acting debut in Reprisal, an action thriller released in 2018. He played Mike Williams, also credited as Paramedic #2, in the film, which starred Bruce Willis and Olivia Culpo.

He hosted the podcast Enough About Me with Shep Rose in 2019 and wrote the memoir Average Expectations: Lessons in Lowering the Bar, published by Simon & Schuster in 2021. He has also written the blog Charleston GRIT and performed stand-up comedy.

Rose endorsed Republican presidential candidate John McCain in 2008 and Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson in 2016. In 2020, he endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and South Carolina Democratic candidate Jaime Harrison. He later criticized his former Southern Charm castmate Thomas Ravenel over Ravenel's support for Donald Trump.

Rose founded a charitable trust that makes donations to charities in December. He supported the David M. Carmines Memorial Foundation in 2017 and helped raise funds for people in the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian in 2019.
