Robert Pattinson

Pattinson has been in a relationship with actor and singer Suki Waterhouse since 2018, and they became engaged in December 2023. Waterhouse gave birth to their daughter in March 2024. The couple has kept their personal life private, and their daughter's name has not been made public.

Before his relationship with Waterhouse, Pattinson was engaged to singer FKA Twigs. They began dating in 2014 and ended their relationship after three years. Pattinson also had a widely publicized relationship with his Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart.

Pattinson grew up in Barnes, southwest London. His father, Robert Pattinson, ran a car-importing business, while his mother, Clare Pattinson, worked for a modeling agency. He developed an interest in music at a young age, learning piano and guitar, and initially considered becoming a musician.

As a teenager, he joined the Barnes Theatre Company after encouragement from his father. He appeared in productions including Guys and Dolls, Our Town, Tess of the d'Urbervilles, Macbeth, and Anything Goes. A talent agent saw him perform in Our Town, leading Pattinson to pursue professional acting.

His first screen appearance was in the 2004 television film Ring of the Nibelungs. He also filmed a small role in Vanity Fair, but his scenes were removed from the final cut. The film's casting director later recommended him for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Pattinson played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in 2005 and briefly returned to the character in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in 2007. The role brought him to a wider audience and helped lead to his casting as Edward Cullen in Twilight.

He played Edward in Twilight and its four sequels, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn: Part 1, and Breaking Dawn: Part 2, released between 2008 and 2012. The films became a worldwide pop-culture phenomenon and established Pattinson as an international star. He co-starred in the series with Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.

During this period, Pattinson also appeared in Little Ashes as the surrealist painter Salvador Dalí, and in Remember Me, Water for Elephants, and Bel Ami. He contributed two songs to the Twilight soundtrack, reflecting his continuing interest in music.

After The Twilight Saga, Pattinson moved toward smaller, character-driven projects. He worked with David Cronenberg on Cosmopolis in 2012 and later appeared in films including The Rover, Maps to the Stars, Life, Queen of the Desert, The Childhood of a Leader, The Lost City of Z, Damsel, and High Life.

Pattinson received particular acclaim for playing a desperate bank robber in the Safdie brothers' Good Time in 2017. The performance earned him a nomination for Best Male Lead at the Independent Spirit Awards and received a six-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival.

In The Lighthouse (2019), directed by Robert Eggers, he played an apprentice lighthouse keeper opposite Willem Dafoe. The performance brought Pattinson his second Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Male Lead. He also appeared as the Dauphin in The King and as a spy handler in Christopher Nolan's Tenet.

Pattinson returned to mainstream filmmaking as Neil in Tenet and then played Bruce Wayne and Batman in Matt Reeves's The Batman (2022). The film presented a darker interpretation of the character, portraying Bruce Wayne's crime-fighting mission as an addiction shaped by trauma. Pattinson's casting initially drew opposition from some fans, but his performance was praised after the film's release.

He played Mickey Barnes in Bong Joon Ho's science-fiction film Mickey 17 (2025), portraying a worker whose body is repeatedly regenerated after dangerous missions on an ice planet. Pattinson also starred opposite Jennifer Lawrence in Lynne Ramsay's Die My Love. He voiced the heron in the English dub of Hayao Miyazaki's The Boy and the Heron (2023).
