Payton Domschke

Domschke is engaged, and she keeps her fiancé's identity and wedding plans private. She has maintained a clear boundary between her public broadcasting career and her personal life.

She is proud of her Polish heritage and celebrates traditions including eating paczki around Fat Tuesday. Outside work, she enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, cooking, and listening to country music and Top 40 songs.

Domschke grew up in the Chicago suburbs and was named after Chicago Bears legend Walter Payton. She attended Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, Illinois, before studying meteorology and climatology at Ball State University. She also completed minors in telecommunications and hydrology.

While completing her degree, Domschke began working full-time as the weekend evening meteorologist at WPTA-TV in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She completed a summer 2018 internship at WOFL-TV in Orlando, Florida, and graduated from Ball State in 2019.

After graduating, Domschke became the weekend morning meteorologist at WVEC-TV in Norfolk, Virginia. During her two years in the Mid-Atlantic, she covered the end of Norfolk's more than 700-day snow drought and tracked remnants of Hurricane Isaias.

In December 2021, she joined WKYC-TV in Cleveland, Ohio. Her work there included coverage of back-to-back lake-effect snow events, including storms that produced more than two feet of snow in some locations. She also reported on the Christmas Storm of 2022, which brought a flash freeze, sub-zero wind chills, and Cleveland's first Blizzard Warning in nearly a decade.

Domschke joined the Action News weather team at 6abc WPVI-TV in February 2024. She made her Philadelphia on-air debut on February 28, 2024, after leaving WKYC in late 2023.

At 6abc, she works as an on-air meteorologist and contributes to the station's weather coverage, including forecasts, weather graphics, and severe-weather updates. Her reporting has also included stories from the Jersey Shore and climate-related features for the station's Climate Ready series.
