NoCap

Kobe Vidal Crawford was born on August 20, 1998, in Mobile, Alabama, and grew up in the Birdsville housing projects on the city's south side. He began showing an interest in music around the age of eight or nine, finding early inspiration through his mother's partner at the time, who wrote rhymes and encouraged him to perform live locally alongside his older brother.

Following a pause in making music during his early teenage years after that relationship ended, he returned to writing and performing. He began releasing music online under the moniker NoCap in 2017, putting out early extended plays and singles that quickly built a following in the regional Southern rap circuit.

In 2018, NoCap released the single "Legend", whose music video generated over a million views and helped launch his debut mixtape, Neighborhood Hero. He followed it with Rogerville, a collaborative mixtape with frequent musical partner Rylo Rodriguez, and earned wider attention that same year after being featured on Lil Baby's track "Dreams 2 Reality" from the mixtape Street Gossip.

In 2019, NoCap signed a recording deal with YoungBoy Never Broke Again's Never Broke Again imprint in partnership with Atlantic Records. In March 2019, he released the breakout single "Ghetto Angels", which amassed tens of millions of views on YouTube and earned an RIAA platinum certification. That May, his mixtape The Backend Child marked his debut on the Billboard 200 chart. He closed the year with The Hood Dictionary, which featured appearances from Lil Durk, Jagged Edge, and Quando Rondo, peaking at number 80 on the Billboard 200.

His fourth mixtape, Steel Human, arrived in July 2020 and reached number 31 on the Billboard 200, propelled by the single "Count a Million" featuring Lil Uzi Vert. In 2023, he earned his first Billboard Hot 100 charting entry as a featured artist on Rylo Rodriguez's single "Thang for You".

In April 2022, NoCap released his debut full-length studio album, Mr. Crawford, through Never Broke Again and Atlantic Records. Preceded by singles such as the platinum-certified "Vaccine" and the Kodak Black collaboration "Save the Day", the album debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200, becoming his highest-charting project. Later that year, he released the mixtape The Main Bird before parting ways with the Never Broke Again label following public disagreements with YoungBoy Never Broke Again.

In August 2024, NoCap released his second studio album, Before I Disappear Again, through Atlantic Records. The project charted at number 18 on the Billboard 200 and was supported by lead singles including "Baby Drake", "Yacht Party", and "Maliboo".

In September 2019, Crawford was involved in an incident in Mobile, Alabama, and later turned himself in to police on charges including shooting into an occupied dwelling, reckless endangerment, possession of a controlled substance, and probation violation.

In January 2021, Crawford turned himself in to authorities in Alabama for violating probation related to the 2019 case after announcing his upcoming surrender on social media. He served nearly seven months in custody before being released on July 21, 2021.
