Monaleo married fellow rapper Stunna 4 Vegas on September 19, 2025, following their engagement in 2023. The couple welcomed their first child together in May 2023, shortly before the release of her debut studio album. Her younger brother is also a recording artist, performing under the moniker Yung Rampage.

She has publicly spoken about her bisexuality and has been an active advocate for mental health, sharing details of her past struggles with depression and suicide attempts. In March 2026, she underwent emergency surgery to remove an inflamed cyst along with an ovary and fallopian tube, leading to a diagnosis of polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS).

Monaleo was born Leondra Roshawn Gay on April 24, 2001, and grew up in Houston, Texas. During high school, she attended The High School for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice in Houston.

After graduating, she enrolled at Prairie View A&M University to study mortuary science, planning a career as a funeral director. She decided to put her university coursework on pause once her early musical projects gained traction.

Monaleo began making music in early 2020. In September 2020, while coping with a difficult breakup, she recorded "Beating Down Yo Block" with producer Merion Krazy. The track incorporated a prominent sample of Yungstar's Houston classic "Knockin Pictures Off da Wall."

A preview snippet of the song went viral across social media platforms in January 2021, generating millions of streams and music video views. The track was subsequently certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). She followed with the singles "Girls Outside," which sampled OG Bobby Billions, and "Suck It Up." In December 2021, she released "We Not Humping," which earned an RIAA Gold certification and received a 2022 remix featuring Flo Milli.

On May 26, 2023, Monaleo released her debut studio album, Where the Flowers Don't Die, through the Stomp Down collective and The Orchard. The project featured a guest appearance from Flo Milli and explored themes of personal perseverance. In September 2024, she released the EP Throwing Bows, featuring collaborations with artists such as Sauce Walka, Kaliii, and Stunna 4 Vegas.

She released her second full-length album, Who Did the Body, in October 2025 through Stomp Down and Columbia Records. The album included the single "Putting Ya Dine," which charted on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 and spawned a remix featuring YoungBoy Never Broke Again. In 2026, she performed as a supporting act on Summer Walker's Still Finally Over It Tour alongside Odeal. On April 24, 2026, the Houston City Council officially proclaimed "Leondra Roshawn Caldwell Day" in her honor, and she later won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding New Artist and the American Music Award for Breakthrough Hip-Hop Artist.
