Melissa Joan Hart

Melissa Joan Hart married musician Mark Wilkerson on July 19, 2003, after they met at the Kentucky Derby in 2002. Their wedding in Florence, Italy, was documented in the ABC Family miniseries Tying the Knot. Hart and Wilkerson have three sons: Mason, Braydon, and Tucker.

Hart and her family lived in Westport, Connecticut, before moving to Lake Tahoe in 2019 and Nashville in 2020. She has described the family as Presbyterian and has spoken about attending church regularly.

Hart began acting at age four in a television commercial for the bathtub toy Splashy. She appeared in 25 commercials before turning five, then moved into television and stage work. Her early credits included Kane & Abel, The Equalizer, the television film Christmas Snow, and the Broadway production of The Crucible, where she was an understudy.

In 1991, Hart became the star of Nickelodeon's Clarissa Explains It All, playing Clarissa Darling. The series ran for four years and earned her four consecutive Young Artist Award nominations, including three wins. Hart also recorded two albums connected to the character and later filmed an unaired college-set pilot titled Clarissa.

Hart took the title role in the 1996 television film Sabrina the Teenage Witch, which led to the long-running series. She played Sabrina Spellman for seven seasons from 1996 to 2003 and also voiced Hilda and Zelda Spellman in Sabrina: The Animated Series. Her younger sister Emily Hart voiced Sabrina in the animated series.

During this period, Hart appeared in films including Can't Hardly Wait and Drive Me Crazy. She also played Sabrina in guest appearances on programs including Clueless, Boy Meets World, You Wish, Teen Angel, and Robot Chicken. Her later film credits include Nine Dead and God's Not Dead 2, in which she played Grace Wesley.

In 2010, Hart returned to weekly television as Mel Burke in the ABC Family sitcom Melissa & Joey, co-starring with Joey Lawrence. The series concluded in 2015 after four seasons and 104 episodes, and Hart served as an executive producer as well as an actor. She also directed six episodes.

Hart later played Liz in the Netflix comedy series No Good Nick and voiced Becca Chang in Nickelodeon's The Casagrandes. Her subsequent television films included Dirty Little Secret, Would You Kill for Me? The Mary Bailey Story, The Bad Guardian, and Killing the Competition. She also competed as Lamp on season nine of The Masked Singer.

Hart made her television directorial debut in 1999 with the So Weird episode "Snapshot," which featured her sister Emily Hart. She directed episodes of Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Taina before making the short film Mute in 2005.

Her later directing credits include The Watcher in the Woods, The Goldbergs, Young Sheldon, iCarly, Schooled, The Big Show Show, Ashley Garcia: Genius in Love, and the television film Santa Bootcamp. With her mother, Paula Hart, she co-founded Hartbreak Films, which produced projects including Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Melissa & Joey.

Hart has supported gun-control efforts and participated in Moms Demand Action demonstrations in Brooklyn in 2016 and Nashville in 2023. She was near The Covenant School in Nashville during the 2023 shooting and helped escort fleeing children to safety.

Her political support has included Bob Dole, Mitt Romney, and Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson. In 2016, she joined Johnson's campaign as its Connecticut chairperson. In 2021, she won the top prize for her charity, Youth Villages, on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.
