Kyle Tucker

Tucker is the son of Mike and Lisa Tucker. His older brother, Preston Tucker, also played in Major League Baseball as an outfielder for the Astros, Braves, and Reds. Kyle is naturally right-handed but learned to bat left-handed as a child by mimicking Preston. Both brothers attended Henry B. Plant High School in Tampa, where Kyle set the school record with 31 home runs, surpassing Preston's previous record of 29.

Tucker married Samantha Scott on January 13, 2024. The couple met at Plant High School, where they both graduated in 2015, and began dating in 2017 while Scott was attending Florida State University. They welcomed a son in March 2026.

In early 2022, Tucker launched the Kyle Tucker Foundation to raise awareness and support for non-profit hospice care centers. He founded the organization following the death of his grandfather in hospice care in 2021. The foundation assists families of patients undergoing care and supports hospice facility staff members in Tampa, Houston, and Chicago.

Tucker played high school baseball at Henry B. Plant High School in Tampa, Florida, where he was named Florida's Gatorade Player of the Year and the Baseball America High School Player of the Year in 2015. Although he committed to play college baseball for the Florida Gators at the University of Florida, he entered professional baseball after the Houston Astros selected him fifth overall in the first round of the 2015 MLB draft.

Tucker progressed through the Astros' minor league system, earning Astros Minor League Player of the Year honors in 2017 and 2018. In 2017, he split the season between the Buies Creek Astros and Corpus Christi Hooks, batting .274 with 25 home runs and 90 RBIs while earning a selection to the All-Star Futures Game. With the Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies in 2018, he was named the Baseball America Triple-A Player of the Year after hitting .332 with 24 home runs and 93 RBIs. In 2019, playing for the Round Rock Express, he became the fifth player in Pacific Coast League history to achieve a 30-home run and 30-stolen base season.

Tucker made his MLB debut for Houston on July 7, 2018, against the Chicago White Sox. During the shortened 2020 regular season, he led the American League with six triples. Tucker completed a breakout campaign in 2021, batting .294 with 30 home runs, 92 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases, which earned him a spot on the All-MLB Second Team and AL Player of the Month honors for September. During Game 4 of the 2021 ALDS against the White Sox, he became the first player in Astros history to steal two bases in the same inning of a postseason game.

In 2022, Tucker earned his first MLB All-Star selection and won the AL Gold Glove Award in right field after recording 13 Defensive Runs Saved. He finished the regular season with 30 home runs, 107 RBIs, and 25 stolen bases. In Game 1 of the 2022 World Series, Tucker became the first player in franchise history to hit multiple home runs in a World Series game. Houston went on to defeat the Philadelphia Phillies in six games, with Tucker catching the final out in right field to secure the title.

Tucker led the American League with 112 RBIs in 2023, hitting .284 with 29 home runs and 30 stolen bases while winning his first Silver Slugger Award. On September 10, 2023, against the San Diego Padres, he became the first player in Astros history to hit two triples in the same inning. In 2024, Tucker earned his third consecutive All-Star selection despite missing nearly three months due to a right shin fracture, finishing the season with 23 home runs and a career-best 181 OPS+ in 78 games.

On December 13, 2024, the Astros traded Tucker to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for Isaac Paredes, Hayden Wesneski, and Cam Smith. During the 2025 season with Chicago, Tucker was voted the National League's starting right fielder in the All-Star Game and won his second Silver Slugger Award. He finished the season batting .266 with 22 home runs, 73 RBIs, and 25 stolen bases in 136 games.

Following the 2025 season, Tucker became a free agent and signed a contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers on January 21, 2026. On the international stage, Tucker represented the United States in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, batting .333 with a home run and four RBIs across four games.
