Cam Schlittler

Schlittler is the son of John and Christine. His father, John, is the police chief in Needham, Massachusetts, and played baseball and football at Stonehill College. His mother, Christine, works in special education for Sharon Public Schools, and he has two siblings, Conor and Carly.

He grew up supporting the Boston Red Sox and is an avid Boston Bruins fan. He was named Cam after Bruins legend Cam Neely.

Schlittler played college baseball for the Northeastern Huskies from 2020 through 2022. In his three seasons, he posted a 14-9 record with a 2.67 ERA and 180 strikeouts over 182 innings in 31 games, including 30 starts.

His strongest collegiate season came in 2021, when he went 8-1 with a 1.88 ERA and 85 strikeouts in 76.2 innings. He led the Coastal Athletic Association in wins and ERA, earned All-CAA First Team honors, and was named the CAA Co-Rookie of the Year. In 2022, he ranked third among CAA pitchers in strikeouts with 85 and made 15 starts.

Before college, Schlittler attended Walpole High School and was a two-sport athlete who played baseball and basketball. He finished his high-school baseball career with a 21-4 record and 213 strikeouts, and was recognized on the Boston Herald and Boston Globe All-Scholastic teams twice.

The Yankees selected Schlittler with the 220th overall pick in the seventh round of the 2022 MLB draft. He began his professional career in 2023 with the Florida Complex League Yankees, Tampa Tarpons, and Hudson Valley Renegades.

In 2024, he pitched for Hudson Valley, Somerset, and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He went 8-8 with a 3.36 ERA and 154 strikeouts across 120.2 innings, and was named the South Atlantic League's Pitcher of the Year and a postseason All-Star.

Schlittler began the 2025 season with Double-A Somerset before moving to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in June. Across both levels, he went 6-6 with a 2.82 ERA and 99 strikeouts in 76.2 innings before joining the Yankees.

The Yankees promoted Schlittler on July 9, 2025, after an injury to Clarke Schmidt. He won his major-league debut against the Seattle Mariners, allowing three earned runs over 5.1 innings while striking out seven. His fastest pitch reached 100 miles per hour, the fastest pitch thrown by a Yankees pitcher that season.

Schlittler finished the regular season with a 4-3 record, a 2.96 ERA, and 84 strikeouts in 14 starts. He produced a 17.2-inning scoreless streak from August 13 through August 30 and allowed one run or fewer in seven of his final nine regular-season starts.

In Game 3 of the American League Wild Card Series against the Boston Red Sox, Schlittler earned the win after throwing eight scoreless innings with 12 strikeouts and no walks. He became the first pitcher in major-league postseason history to record at least eight scoreless innings and 12 strikeouts without allowing a walk. He also started the deciding game of the American League Division Series against the Toronto Blue Jays, taking the loss.

Schlittler was named to his first American League All-Star team in 2026. The Yankees used him as a starting pitcher while Gerrit Cole was unavailable because of injury and subsequent surgery.

He set a career high with 13 strikeouts against the Cincinnati Reds on June 19, 2026. His 2026 regular-season statistics listed by Major League Baseball were an 11-6 record, a 2.16 ERA, 193 strikeouts, and a 0.96 WHIP over 158 innings.
