Kenneth Petty

Petty and Nicki Minaj first met as students at LaGuardia High School in New York City. They dated briefly as teenagers, lost touch for years, and reconnected in 2018. Minaj later referenced their early relationship on Chance the Rapper's 2019 song "Zanies and Fools."

The couple went public with their relationship in December 2018. They married on October 21, 2019, after Minaj confirmed that they had obtained a marriage license earlier that year. Their son was born on September 30, 2020, and is publicly known by the nickname Papa Bear.

Petty has appeared in two of Minaj's music videos. His first credited appearance was in "MEGATRON," released in 2019, followed by a cameo in "Hot Girl Summer," Minaj's collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion from the same year.

IMDb identifies Petty as an actor and lists "Nicki Minaj: Megatron" among his known work. His public appearances have largely been connected to Minaj's music and public life.

Petty was convicted in New York in 1995 of first-degree attempted rape and was sentenced to 18 to 54 months in prison. He served about four years and is listed as a level two registered sex offender in New York State.

After relocating to California with Minaj in 2019, Petty failed to register his change of residence as required under federal law. He pleaded guilty to the registration offense and was sentenced in July 2022 to one year of home detention, three years of probation, and a $55,000 fine.

Petty pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in 2006 in connection with the 2002 shooting death of Lamont Robinson. The plea reduced an original second-degree murder charge.

He received a 10-year prison sentence, served seven years, and was released in 2013. He then spent five years on supervised release.
