Ivy Wolk

Ivy Wolk was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Her mother is a landscape architect, and her father, John Wolk, works in standards and practices for Jimmy Kimmel Live!. As a child, she belonged to the Los Angeles Derby Dolls roller derby league.

At 13, Wolk began posting comedic videos on TikTok under the handle @fathoodbitch and attracted more than 200,000 followers. She also grew up attending auditions and studying at a children's musical theater conservatory.

Wolk made her first professional onscreen appearance as Tellulah in the first season of the Freeform comedy series Everything's Gonna Be Okay, which aired in 2020. Tellulah was a drama-starting high school student and frenemy to Genevieve, played by Maeve Press. Wolk's first TikTok account was deactivated after she booked the role in 2019 at the request of Freeform executives, and she did not return for the show's second season.

While finishing high school, Wolk appeared as an Anti-Krystal YouTuber in Judd Apatow's The Bubble (2022). She briefly attended Emerson College and joined a sketch comedy group before leaving during her first year after filming Sean Baker's Anora in early 2023. Wolk had contacted Baker on Instagram after attending a screening of Red Rocket, and he invited her to audition after becoming interested in her internet persona.

In Anora, Wolk played Crystal, a teenage candy shop employee whose friend Vanya, played by Mark Eidelstein, hires Anora, played by Mikey Madison, to be his girlfriend. The film won the Palme d'Or at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, bringing Wolk wider attention.

After Anora, Wolk appeared as Chelsea in the FX series English Teacher. Chelsea is a sardonic high school student and the best friend of Kayla, played by Romy Mars. She also played Colette in Eugene Kotlyarenko's comedy film The Code and Jen Peyser in Friendship.

Her later screen work included Diana in If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, Keller in Castration Movie Anthology II: The Best of Both Worlds, and Prancer in The Napa Boys. She also appeared in Jonah Hill's Outcome as Sammy and in Netflix's Roommates as Auguste. Wolk starred in the television adaptation of The Shards, directed by Ryan Murphy, and a short story by her was published in Volume 0.

Wolk became known for dry, deadpan humor and provocative commentary on TikTok and Twitter, where her posts frequently became part of online discussion. She has been associated with the Dimes Square group and has been characterized as an internet provocateur. Her online handles have included wolktress and wolkmindvirus.

Wolk has said that her persona is earnest and that her autism can lead people to misconstrue her meaning. She has cited Courtney Love, Amy Winehouse, and Sandra Bernhard as major inspirations, and she was included on GLAAD's 20 Under 20 list in 2024. Her appearance, including sharp bangs and a unibrow, has also become part of her public image.

After moving to Brooklyn, Wolk began performing stand-up comedy in New York's downtown scene. Her one-hour show Age of Consent, performed at venues including Sesh Comedy, examines female sexuality, female subjugation, pain, and fetishization.

Wolk has described stand-up, acting, prose writing, screenwriting, and the internet as equally important mediums for her expression. She has also appeared on cultural programs including Subway Takes and Interior Motives, where she appeared alongside Courtney Love.
