Kendra Scott

Kendra Baumgartner married John Scott in 2000, and they had two sons before divorcing in 2006. The sons are named Cade and Beck. She married Matt Davis on June 6, 2014, in Sedona, Arizona, and they have one son together; the couple divorced in 2020.

Scott married Thomas Evans in early 2022, and they later separated in 2025. She married country singer Zac Brown on May 25, 2026, in a ceremony in Greece. Scott has three children.

Scott’s first business was the Hat Box, which sold comfortable hats for people undergoing chemotherapy. She donated part of the proceeds to cancer research. Before launching her jewelry company, she made jewelry at home in Austin, Texas.

Scott founded Kendra Scott LLC in 2002, three months after her first son was born. She created her first collection in a spare bedroom with $500, then went door to door to Austin boutiques with her jewelry. On her first day, she sold all of her samples at the final boutique so she could buy enough materials to fulfill the orders she had received.

Her designs were selected to accessorize Oscar de la Renta’s spring 2006 runway show and later appeared in Randolph Duke’s 2007 runway show. During the 2008 financial crisis, the company nearly closed, but an order from Nordstrom provided exposure that helped the business expand. Scott opened her first retail store on Austin’s South Congress Avenue in 2010 and launched the company’s e-commerce business and Color Bar experience that same year.

Scott’s design approach uses natural materials, traditional jewelry-making techniques, innovative materials, vibrant color, and distinctive stone silhouettes. The company expanded from fashion jewelry into fine jewelry, home accessories, nail lacquer, beauty products, and home décor.

Scott stepped down as chief executive officer in February 2021 and retained the title of executive chairwoman. She has also invested in Austin companies including Helm Boots, Darbie Angell dinnerware, and Tiff’s Treats.

Scott has appeared as a guest shark investor on seasons 12, 14, and 16 of the ABC reality series Shark Tank. She also co-hosted the reality television show Crowd Rules.

Scott’s company organizes charitable initiatives focused on women, children, health, education, and entrepreneurship. The Kendra Gives Back program allows community members to hold fundraising events, while the Kendra Cares program brings the company’s customizable Color Bar jewelry experience to pediatric hospitals as a creative arts activity.

In 2019, Scott founded the Kendra Scott Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute at the University of Texas at Austin. She was appointed a Professor of Practice at the university’s College of Fine Arts in fall 2020 and has taught and supported programming for women entrepreneurs.

Scott launched the Kendra Scott Foundation in 2023 to support women and youth in health and wellness, education, and entrepreneurship. She is also a member of the board of directors of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Scott received the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2017 National Award and the Breakthrough Award from the Accessories Council Excellence Awards. She has also been named Outstanding Mother of the Year by the Mother’s Day Council, Texas Businesswoman of the Year by the Women’s Chamber of Commerce, and CEO of the Year by the Austin Business Journal.

In 2019, Scott was inducted into the Texas Business Hall of Fame. She is a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America and was inducted into the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame in 2021.
