Jschlatt

Born in New York City, Schlatt grew up in Long Island as the youngest of three siblings. He played the cello during his school years and later worked at a New York deli restocking fridges and cleaning. He attended college to study computer science and cybersecurity before dropping out to pursue digital content creation full-time.

In February 2021, Schlatt moved to Austin, Texas, arriving amid a severe statewide winter storm and staying with fellow creator Mizkif after local hotels lost power. He announced his return to New York in June 2024. In late 2025, he survived a vehicle collision with a deer while driving, an event that prompted him to re-evaluate his career and focus on his health. In early 2021, he adopted an orange tabby cat named Jambo.

Schlatt began making gaming videos on YouTube in 2013 and uploaded his first public video under the alias jschlatt in June 2014. His early uploads included satirical memes, video essays, and gameplay commentary. In February 2018, his comedic video "elon r u ok?" went viral and drew wider attention to his channel, followed later that year by the introspective essay "A Tribute to Minecraft".

In March 2019, Schlatt joined the private Minecraft creator server SMPLive, founded by CallMeCarson and Cscoop. He developed an exaggerated, deadpan persona characterized by satirical capitalist bits, running jokes about the fictional cryptocurrency Schlattcoin, and distorted audio known as the "funny mic." He transitioned his primary upload hub to the jschlattLIVE channel and revealed his face in September 2019 after defeating the Ender Dragon on the server.

In 2020, Schlatt made appearances on the collaborative roleplay server Dream SMP, playing an antagonistic political leader during key narrative arcs such as the L'Manberg election. Alongside other creator peers from the gaming community, he also took part in the short-lived collaborative group Lunch Club.

Schlatt joined the streaming organization One True King (OTK) as a co-owner in May 2021, collaborating on events and studio-produced content. He departed OTK in December 2022 to pursue independent creative projects, while retaining an advisory role with its hardware offshoot Starforge Systems. Over the subsequent years, his output broadened to include reaction series such as "Ranking Your Submissions" on his secondary channel Schlatt & Co., alongside short-form comedic challenges.

In July 2017, Schlatt launched the comedy podcast Sleep Deprived with Mikasacus, later joined by creators Apandah and Aztrosist. The podcast transitioned to its own channel and later introduced Patreon-exclusive releases alongside a dedicated multiplayer Minecraft server called SDMP.

In January 2021, Schlatt co-created the video podcast Chuckle Sandwich alongside Ted Nivison, Tucker Keane, and Slimecicle (Charlie Dalgleish). The show featured comedic sketches, debates, and appearances from guests such as Jaiden Animations and TommyInnit, running until its finale in early 2025. He has also hosted the serious advice commentary series The Weekly Slap and launched the debate show Did Schlatt Win? in 2023.

Schlatt partnered with streamer Ludwig Ahgren in September 2022 to establish Ludwig and Schlatt's Musical Emporium, releasing copyright-free recordings of classical compositions and original instrumental tracks. After fan reaction to his authentic 2023 cover of Frank Sinatra's "My Way", he recorded the holiday album A Very 1999 Christmas at The Sound Factory in Hollywood, working with saxophonist Tom Scott to arrange sheet music in a traditional crooner style. The album debuted in December 2024 and received an expanded deluxe edition in late 2025.

Beyond music, Schlatt ventured into animation by voicing the character Kaboodle in the 2026 Glitch Productions animated series Gameoverse. In business, he acquired a majority ownership stake in the gaming energy supplement brand Gamer Supps in May 2022 and co-founded the merchandise and production company Schlatt & Co.
