Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik Roshan was married to interior designer Sussanne Khan from 2000 to 2014. They have two sons, Hrehaan, born in 2006, and Hridhaan, born in 2008, and have maintained cordial relations after their divorce.

Roshan has been associated with actress Saba Azad since 2022. He is the son of filmmaker Rakesh Roshan and Pinky Roshan, and his sister is Sunaina Roshan.

Roshan first appeared on screen at the age of six in an uncredited dance sequence in his maternal grandfather J. Om Prakash's Aasha (1980). He made further uncredited appearances before playing a credited speaking role as the adopted son of Rajinikanth's character in Bhagwaan Dada (1986).

Before becoming a leading actor, Roshan assisted his father on Khudgarz (1987), King Uncle (1993), Karan Arjun (1995), and Koyla (1997). His duties included sweeping floors and making tea for the crew, while he also studied acting under Kishore Namit Kapoor and trained in dance, martial arts, diction, and other performance skills.

Roshan made his leading-actor debut in his father's Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000), playing the dual roles of Rohit, an aspiring singer, and Raj, an NRI who falls in love with Ameesha Patel's character. The film became one of the highest-grossing Indian films of the year and turned Roshan into an overnight star.

For the film, he won Filmfare awards for Best Male Debut and Best Actor, becoming the only actor to win both awards for the same film. His early follow-up performances included the morally conflicted characters in Fiza and Mission Kashmir, followed by the supporting role of Rohan Raichand in Karan Johar's Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001).

The science-fiction film Koi... Mil Gaya (2003), directed and produced by Rakesh Roshan, became a major turning point in Roshan's career. He played Rohit Mehra, a developmentally disabled young man who encounters an extraterrestrial being and gains superpowers. Roshan won both the Filmfare Award for Best Actor and the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor for the performance.

The success of Koi... Mil Gaya led to Krrish (2006) and Krrish 3 (2013), in which Roshan played the superhero Krrish as well as related characters. He also received acclaim for roles including an army officer in Lakshya (2004), a master thief in Dhoom 2 (2006), and Mughal emperor Akbar in Jodhaa Akbar (2008).

Roshan played a quadriplegic former magician seeking euthanasia in Guzaarish (2010), opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. To prepare, he spent time with patients with paraplegia and trained with a Ukrainian magician. He later appeared with Rai Bachchan in Dhoom 2 and Jodhaa Akbar.

His later roles included the workaholic Arjun Saluja in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), the revenge-seeking Vijay Deenanath Chauhan in Agneepath (2012), the blind man Rohan Bhatnagar in Kaabil (2017), and mathematician Anand Kumar in Super 30 (2019). In War (2019), he played Major Kabir Dhaliwal opposite Tiger Shroff, establishing the character within the Yash Raj Films spy universe. He returned as Kabir in War 2 (2025).

Roshan is particularly known for his dancing and for performing demanding physical roles. His notable dance numbers include "Ek Pal Ka Jeena" from Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, "Main Aisa Kyun Hoon" from Lakshya, "Dhoom Again" from Dhoom 2, "Señorita" from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, and "Ghungroo" from War.

He served as a judge on the dance reality show Just Dance in 2011 and performed on stage in concerts including Heartthrobs: Live in Concert. Roshan has won six Filmfare Awards, including four for Best Actor, and wax figures of him have been displayed at Madame Tussauds museums in London, Washington, D.C., and other cities. He launched the casual-wear brand HRx in 2013 and has supported charitable initiatives involving speech therapy and disability services.
