George Kamel

Kamel earned a bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Mobile. He has described entering adulthood with $36,000 in student loan debt and $4,000 in credit card debt after financing his education through Sallie Mae.

He began a temporary job at Ramsey Solutions in 2013 and took the company's Financial Peace University course. The Baby Steps approach led him to pay off his $40,000 in consumer debt in 18 months, after which he completed Ramsey Financial Coach Master Training and became a certified financial coach. He later said that he and his wife paid off their house in 2021.

At Ramsey Solutions, Kamel speaks at live events and participates in financial education programming. He is a host of The Fine Print, The Ramsey Show and the EntreLeadership podcasts, and he has described The Ramsey Show as the second-largest talk radio show in the United States.

Kamel co-hosts Smart Money Happy Hour with Rachel Cruze. The program combines personal finance discussions with pop culture, humor and commentary about everyday spending, and it recorded a number-one debut in Apple Business along with more than one million downloads.

Kamel began posting content on TikTok in 2021, uploading his first video on December 23 of that year. His george.kamel account focuses on money, economics, investing and financial myths, often using humor and a conversational style.

One of his widely viewed videos, uploaded on May 24, 2023, discussed investing tips for beginners and received more than 21.3 million views. His account has also accumulated more than 550,000 followers and 12 million likes.

Kamel has described himself as having grown up as an Arabic Baptist in the United States. His parents immigrated to the country from the Middle East in the 1980s and worked to raise him and his brother.

He has connected his upbringing to his later views on personal finance, saying that he absorbed mainstream attitudes toward college, credit scores and consumer payments before changing his approach through Ramsey's financial education.
