Dax Flame
Dax Flame, also known as Theodore Madison Patrello, is an American actor and YouTube star. He first became known for diary-style videos on YouTube before moving into film, including roles in Project X, 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street, and Another Evil.
YouTube Career
Flame began his YouTube career on January 2, 2007, with diary entries and vlog-style videos built around an awkward teenage character. His direct, unusual presentation and original character vlogs helped make the Daxflame channel one of the platform's most subscribed channels at one point. In April 2008, he also posted a video in which he interviewed television actor Josh Peck.
His YouTube popularity led to collaborations with other online personalities and helped him move into acting. In 2020, he uploaded the pilot for the game show Smoothie Madness, which received more than 200,000 views before the series began appearing weekly. He also became the subject of the 2020 YouTube documentary Ice Cream Man.
Project X and 21 Jump Street
In 2011, Flame was cast as Dax in the found-footage teen comedy Project X. His YouTube success was a factor in his selection for the role. Because the character operates the camera, Flame explained that he had limited screen time, although his appearances were intended to have a strong impact.
Flame played Zack in both 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street. He also appeared as a teenage announcer in The Watch, with that role credited under the name “Flax Dame.”
Another Evil and later work
Flame starred as Jasper “Jazz” Papadakis in the horror comedy Another Evil in 2016. He later appeared in independent films and had a cameo in Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain.
Alongside acting, Flame has worked as a director, writer, producer, cinematographer, and editor. His credits include directing and writing Making YouTube, and directing, writing, and producing Drowning in Potential. In 2023, he started the talk show The Hot Seat.
