Bonnie Wright

Bonnie Wright has been married to Andrew Lococo since 2022. They have one son, Elio Ocean Wright Lococo, who was born on 19 September 2023.

Wright was previously engaged to her Harry Potter co-star Jamie Campbell Bower. Their engagement ended in 2012.

Wright made her screen debut as Ginny Weasley in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in 2001. Her older brother Lewis suggested that she resembled the character, prompting her to audition despite having only performed in school plays. She initially appeared in a small scene at King's Cross railway station, but Ginny's role expanded in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Wright continued as Ginny through all eight Harry Potter films, including Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, in which Ginny joins Dumbledore's Army, and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, in which she becomes a Gryffindor Quidditch chaser and Harry Potter's love interest. She reprised the role in the two-part Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows finale and also voiced Ginny in several related video games.

Her performance in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 earned an Empire Award nomination for Best Female Newcomer. She won the Most Edgy Look Award at the 2011 Rodial Beautiful Awards.

After the Harry Potter series, Wright appeared in independent films including The Sea, Before I Sleep, and After the Dark. She played Rose, a young nursemaid, in The Sea, Georgina in After the Dark, and Phoebe in Before I Sleep. Her other acting credits include My Dad Is Scrooge, in which she provided the voice of Connie, Who Killed Nelson Nutmeg?, and A Christmas Carol.

Wright made her stage debut in 2013 as The Girl in Peter Ustinov's The Moment of Truth at London's Southwark Playhouse. She also appeared as Vanessa in an episode of the Disney Channel series The Replacements and later took part in the television special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.

Wright studied filmmaking at the London College of Communication, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2012. She founded the production company BonBonLumiere and made her directorial and screenwriting debut with the coming-of-age short film Separate We Come, Separate We Go, starring David Thewlis. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.

Her subsequent directing projects include Know Thyself, Sextant, and Medusa's Ankles. She also directed the three-episode series Phone Calls, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2017. Her music-video work includes Sophie Lowe's “Dreaming” and “Taught You How To Feel”, as well as Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johansson's “Iguana Bird”.

In 2022, Wright published Go Gently: Actionable Steps to Nurture Yourself and the Planet. She narrated the audiobook Babbitty Rabbitty and her Cackling Stump, released in support of Lumos.

Wright has worked with Greenpeace, the Rainforest Alliance, and Lumos. In 2017, she joined Greenpeace aboard the Arctic Sunrise to monitor plastic waste in the oceans, and in 2018 she delivered a petition to Coca-Cola's headquarters calling for an end to single-use plastic production.

As a Rainforest Alliance ambassador, Wright travelled to Guatemala in 2020 to meet communities practising sustainable forest management in the Maya Biosphere Reserve. She has also visited Haiti with Lumos ambassador Evanna Lynch to learn about children living in orphanages and efforts to reunite them with their families.
