Veronika Slowikowska is a Canadian actress and comedian born in Barrie, Ontario. She is known for her Internet sketch comedy, her role as Shanice in What We Do in the Shadows, and lead performances in Homeschooled and Davey & Jonesie's Locker. In 2025, she joined Saturday Night Live as a featured player.

Early life

Slowikowska was born in Barrie, Ontario, shortly after her parents immigrated to Canada from Poland. Polish culture influenced her upbringing, and her early interest in performance included singing with the Ontario Children's Choir and performing songs for her family.

She attended St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School and graduated from Randolph College for the Performing Arts in Toronto in 2015. She later studied at the Second City Conservatory and graduated from the Canadian Film Centre's Actors Conservatory in 2020.

Career

Slowikowska began her comedy career in Toronto, performing improv at the Bad Dog Theatre Company. She was a member of the troupes Hilary Duff Fan Club and My Chemical Bromance, and also performed in stage productions of Spring Awakening and Footloose.

She gained wider attention as Shanice in the first two seasons of the horror comedy series What We Do in the Shadows. She appeared in five episodes between 2019 and 2020, alongside Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, and Natasia Demetriou. Her subsequent television appearances included Degrassi: Next Class, Murdoch Mysteries, Clarice, and Nurses.

In 2020, Slowikowska released the single "So Many Lies" to promote the Heartland series Becoming Alex, followed by "Homesick" in 2021. She starred as Greta Hansen in the CBC comedy series Homeschooled and played Amber Whitelaw in the OutTV horror comedy series EZRA. Her performance in the short comedy film Mayonnaise earned a Best Actress nomination at the 2022 Film in Focus Awards.

Slowikowska appeared in the films I Like Movies and EXmas, playing Mindy in the latter alongside Leighton Meester and Robbie Amell. She launched the podcast nevermind. with co-host Kyle Chase in 2023, then played the lead role of Davey in the science fiction comedy series Davey & Jonesie's Locker. In 2025, she joined Saturday Night Live as a featured player, becoming the second female cast member from Canada after Robin Duke and the first Canadian cast member to join the show since Norm Macdonald's departure.
