Tana Mongeau

Mongeau was raised in Henderson, Nevada, by parents Rick and Rebecca Mongeau. She experienced a difficult childhood, noting that she often felt responsible for raising her parents, and later became estranged from her biological family. During her sophomore year, she left Green Valley High School and was taken in by the family of her best friend at age thirteen.

Openly bisexual, Mongeau has been involved in several public relationships. Early in her online career, she dated Somer Hollingsworth before their split in 2017. She later dated actress Bella Thorne from 2017 to early 2019, during which time they also formed a relationship trio with musician Mod Sun. Mongeau subsequently had relationships with internet personality Brad Sousa and rappers Lil Xan and Chris Miles.

In April 2019, Mongeau began dating YouTube personality Jake Paul. The pair held an elaborate wedding ceremony in Las Vegas in July 2019 that was broadcast on pay-per-view and featured on her MTV reality show. Mongeau later explained that the event was staged for entertainment, and reports confirmed that no marriage license had been filed. The couple parted ways in January 2020. Mongeau has practiced sobriety and has been in a relationship with Makoa Da Silva since 2023.

Mongeau launched her YouTube channel in 2015, quickly attracting an audience through unfiltered, humorous storytelling about personal mishaps and wild experiences. Her early breakthrough came with viral uploads such as "KICKED OUT OF WALMART," which became her first video to surpass one million views. Her rapid growth on the platform earned her major industry recognition, including the Streamy Award for Creator of the Year in 2019.

Her online presence expanded into mainstream media when MTV produced the reality web series MTV No Filter: Tana Turns 21 in 2019. In July 2021, Mongeau entered podcasting with the launch of Cancelled, co-hosted with Brooke Schofield. The show focused on commentary on internet culture, celebrity gossip, and candid discussions about their personal lives, running for 130 episodes before concluding in 2025. She also co-hosts the podcast Not Loveline with Tana and Trish alongside media personality Trisha Paytas, as well as the solo venture Brand Safe.

In May 2018, Mongeau announced the creation of TanaCon, a convention conceived as an alternative to VidCon after organizers declined to give her featured creator status. Organized alongside manager Michael Weist, the event was scheduled for June 2018 in Anaheim, California, directly competing with VidCon's dates.

The convention was held at the Anaheim Marriott Suites on June 22, 2018, with over 80 internet creators scheduled to appear, including Shane Dawson, Casey Neistat, and Bella Thorne. The venue quickly became overwhelmed when an estimated 4,000 to 5,000 attendees arrived, exceeding the building's safety capacity. Thousands of fans remained stranded outside in extreme heat without adequate shade, food, or water, leading to heat exhaustion and safety concerns that forced authorities to shut the event down on its first day.

Comparisons were widely drawn between TanaCon and the infamous Fyre Festival. Mongeau issued public apologies and pledged refunds to ticket holders, while Shane Dawson documented the planning failures and aftermath in a multi-part documentary series. In 2019, VidCon co-founder Hank Green acknowledged past missteps regarding Mongeau, and she was officially invited as a featured creator for VidCon 2019.

Mongeau entered the music industry in November 2017 with the release of her debut single, "Hefner," accompanied by a music video co-starring Bella Thorne. She followed with additional independent singles, including "W" and "Fuck Up" in 2018, "FaceTime" in 2019, and "Without You" in 2020, along with collaborations with artists such as Lil Phag.

Her acting work includes a starring role in Joey Graceffa's YouTube Premium murder-mystery series Escape the Night. Across the show's run, she portrayed several thematic characters, including the Saloon Girl, the Pin-Up Girl, and the Prom Queen in Escape the Night: The Lost Tapes. Outside of entertainment, she launched her own consumer brand, Dizzy Wine, in January 2022.
