Storm Reid is an American actress known for playing Meg Murry in A Wrinkle in Time. She is also recognized for her roles as Gia Bennett in Euphoria and Riley Abel in The Last of Us, for which she won a Primetime Emmy Award.

Personal life

Storm Reid is the youngest of four siblings. Her siblings are Josh, Iman, and Paris, and her parents are Rodney Reid and Robyn Simpson. When she was nine, her family moved from Atlanta to Los Angeles so she could pursue acting.

Reid was previously in a relationship with fellow actor Sayeed Shahidi. She later began a relationship with Shedeur Sanders, and the couple separated.

Early acting roles

Reid began acting when she was three years old, appearing in a television commercial before taking small screen and film roles. She made her television-film debut as Young Erica in A Cross to Bear in 2012.

Her film debut came with the role of Emily in the historical drama 12 Years a Slave in 2013. She later played Tina, the younger sister of Jacob Latimore's character Bo, in the science-fiction drama Sleight, and appeared as Aki in An American Girl: Lea to the Rescue.

Breakthrough with A Wrinkle in Time

Reid gained wider recognition as Meg Murry in Ava DuVernay's fantasy film A Wrinkle in Time in 2018. Her performance received praise, and she earned nominations for the Teen Choice Award for Choice Fantasy Movie Actress and the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Breakthrough Role in a Motion Picture.

She continued with prominent film roles as Ashley in Don't Let Go, Sydney Lanier in The Invisible Man, Tyla in The Suicide Squad, Rachel in One Way, June in Missing, and Sister Debra in The Nun II.

Euphoria and The Last of Us

In 2019, Reid joined the cast of HBO's Euphoria as Gia Bennett, the younger sister of Zendaya's character Rue Bennett. She played Gia across the series' first two seasons and also portrayed Lisa in two episodes of the Netflix miniseries When They See Us. She voiced Nia in The Bravest Knight.

Reid played Riley Abel in the The Last of Us episode "Left Behind" in 2023. Her performance earned the Black Reel Award for Outstanding Guest Performance in a Drama Series and the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.

Production and community initiatives

In 2013, Reid and her mother, Robyn Simpson, launched A Seed & Wings Productions, an independent multimedia production company focused on multicultural storytelling. Reid and Simpson created and produced the Facebook Watch conversation series Chop it Up in 2021.

Reid also created the ArashiBlu brand and launched ArashiBlu 1720 to support emerging creators and community projects. Its 1720 One Park at a Time initiative aims to restore parks and playgrounds in underserved neighborhoods, beginning with Brownwood Park in Atlanta. Coco Gauff and New Balance partnered with Reid on the park's groundbreaking event in 2023.
