PlaqueBoyMax, whose real name is Maxwell Elliot Dent, is an American rapper, record producer, and Twitch star from West Orange, New Jersey. He is known for his livestreamed music sessions, especially the "In The Booth" series, his work with emerging hip-hop artists, and releases including the mixtape Five Forever.

Early life

Maxwell Elliot Dent was born in West Orange, New Jersey, and graduated from West Orange High School in 2021. He played on the school's varsity basketball team and took a gap year to pursue livestreaming full-time, using a Google Slides presentation to persuade his parents to support the decision.

Dent grew up with an older sister named Olivia and a younger brother named Nicholas. His family used the phrase "Max Out the Burbs" as the name of a group chat connected to their jokes about his future success and plans to move them out of the suburbs.

Basement Boyz

While in high school, Dent helped create the YouTube channel Basement Boyz with friends. He edited and appeared in videos built around pranks, public interviews, rap battles, and other rap-related content. The channel grew to nearly 200,000 subscribers before the group disbanded.

Dent began streaming on Twitch in April 2021 under the name PlaqueBoyMax, a name inspired by YouTube Creator Awards. His early broadcasts included reaction videos, gaming, Discord community events, and music-focused programs such as Song Wars, in which artists submitted songs for tournament-style rankings. Clips of his reactions to music and "What song are you listening to?" videos also circulated widely on TikTok.

FaZe Clan and In The Booth

Dent formed the 5$TAR collective with artists and friends who regularly appeared on his streams and participated in Song Wars. Named members included gawsxo, Skreet2x, Wayne Almighty, NIKOWOODYEAR, and YoungDabo. The collective helped connect his streaming community with competitive music events and collaborative performances.

In May 2024, Dent joined FaZe Clan during the organization's revamp, alongside creators including Silky and Jason Nguyen, also known as Jasontheween. He later launched In The Booth, a livestream series in which invited artists created songs while Dent engineered the sessions and helped prepare the recordings for release. The series included collaborations with DDG, Central Cee, Lazer Dim 700, and other artists, and established Dent as a prominent promoter of internet-driven hip-hop.

A live session with DDG produced "Pink Dreads," which later reached the Top 50 of Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Dent also hosted a stream with Central Cee that attracted more than 127,000 concurrent viewers, while a session with Kevin Gates surpassed 70,000 viewers. Will Smith appeared on one of Dent's streams to promote his album Based on a True Story.

Five Forever and EPs

Dent's music releases expanded during 2025. He independently released the EP London, which featured songs recorded during livestreams in the city with Nemzzz, Skepta, Lancey Foux, YT, and Len. He followed it with Atlanta through Field Trip Recordings, featuring contributions from Quavo, DJ Drama, Tana, 1300Saint, ApolloRed1, Flo Milli, Lazer Dim 700, and Hardrock.

His debut solo mixtape, Five Forever, was released in May 2025 through 5$TAR, Field Trip, and Capitol. His later EPs include Too Much Music and Crash Dummy. He also released "Victory Lap" with Fred Again and Skepta, a track that received nominations for Best Dance/Electronic Recording at the Grammy Awards and Song of the Year at the Brit Awards. Dent left FaZe Clan in August 2025 to focus on his own 5$TAR brand.
