Lisa Vanderpump is an English actress and reality television personality known for starring on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and creating Vanderpump Rules. She is also a restaurateur, designer, author, and founder of The Vanderpump Dog Foundation.

Personal life

Lisa Vanderpump met businessman Ken Todd at his Kensington bar in London in May 1982, and they married on 28 August 1982. They have two children, Pandora Vanderpump-Todd and adopted son Max Todd. Vanderpump is also the stepmother of Warren Todd and has grandchildren through Pandora.

Vanderpump began ballet lessons at the age of three and attended the Corona Academy drama school from age nine. She has lived in London, Cheltenham, Monaco, and the south of France, and has primarily resided in Beverly Hills since moving to the United States.

Early acting work

Vanderpump made her film debut at age 13 as an uncredited extra in A Touch of Class in 1973. Her credited film debut came as Anne in the 1978 horror film Killer's Moon. She also appeared in Tommy, Bugsy Malone, The Wildcats of St Trinian's, and Separate Lives.

Her television debut was as Ursula Marsh in the BBC drama John Halifax, Gentleman in 1974. She later played Lucille Wyatt in Kids, Sarah Wright in Kelly Monteith, and Margo Curtis in Baywatch Nights. She also appeared in music videos for ABC, Naked Eyes, and Lady Gaga, including Lady Gaga's 2014 video for “G.U.Y.”

Reality television and restaurants

Vanderpump joined the original main cast of Bravo's The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2010 and appeared on the series through 2019. She competed on the 16th season of Dancing with the Stars in 2013 with professional dancer Gleb Savchenko, finishing in tenth place. She later hosted Overserved with Lisa Vanderpump, judged Pooch Perfect, and appeared on Gordon Ramsay's Food Stars.

Her restaurant and hospitality career with Ken Todd includes SUR Restaurant & Lounge, Villa Blanca, Pump Restaurant, and Tom Tom Restaurant & Bar. SUR became the setting for Vanderpump Rules, on which Vanderpump has served as a cast member, creator, and executive producer since 2013. She later expanded the Vanderpump brand to Nevada with Vanderpump Cocktail Garden, Vanderpump à Paris, Wolf by Vanderpump, and Pinky's by Vanderpump.

Animal activism and philanthropy

Vanderpump founded The Vanderpump Dog Foundation in 2016 and opened its Los Angeles rescue center in 2017. The organization also operates rescue centers in China. Her work with the foundation became the focus of the television series Vanderpump Dogs and the documentary The Road to Yulin and Beyond.

In 2015, Vanderpump organized a protest march against the Yulin Dog Meat Festival and later addressed Congress about the treatment of dogs. She and Ken Todd also launched the Stop Yulin Forever campaign. Her broader philanthropic work has included advocacy for LGBTQ rights, support for AIDS Walk Los Angeles, feeding homeless people through Villa Blanca, and assistance for wildfire relief efforts.
