Kimberley Martin

Kimberley Martin has been married to journalist Jeffrey Roberts since 2014. She was raised in Brooklyn by Compton Martin and Camille Collins Martin. Her father died of cancer in 2012.

Martin earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and African American Studies from Wesleyan University. She later received a master's degree in magazine, newspaper and online journalism from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

Martin began her journalism career after working as a sales assistant at U.S. Trust in New York. She joined The Daily Orange as a sports staff writer and also contributed to The Post-Standard, where she covered high school sports in Syracuse. She later worked at The Record before joining Newsday Media Group in 2007.

At Newsday, Martin covered the New York Jets as the newspaper's only beat writer for six years. She has covered the NFL since 2009 and has also reported on Major League Baseball and the NBA.

In 2017, Martin became a sports columnist for The Buffalo News, focusing on the Buffalo Bills. She then worked as a Washington beat writer for The Washington Post from 2017 to 2018. From 2018 to 2020, she was a senior NFL writer and columnist at Yahoo Sports, where she co-hosted the all-female football show Cover 3 and conducted on-camera interviews with league executives and players.

Martin joined ESPN as an NFL reporter in March 2020. Her ESPN work has included Sunday NFL Countdown, Fantasy Football Now, NFL Live, Get Up, First Take, SportsCenter, ESPN Radio, Outside the Lines and Andscape. She also co-hosts First Take, Her Take, an all-female ESPN football show.

Her ESPN features have included “Gratitude,” about Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller's journey toward sobriety and NFL stardom. She has also profiled Maia Chaka, the first Black woman to officiate an NFL game, and Bill Nunn Jr., the Pittsburgh Steelers scout who became a 2021 member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Martin's journalism has been recognized with the NABJ Emerging Journalist of the Year award, an APSE first-place award for project writing, an NABJ Salute to Excellence first-place award for sports writing, a Sports Emmy for her contribution to SportsCenter, and a 2022 NAMIC Vision Award.

Martin made her film debut in Chang Can Dunk in 2023, appearing as herself. Her screen credits also include appearances connected with Keyshawn, JWill and Zubin, Vibe Check and Sunday NFL Countdown.

Her television work complements her journalism career, with credits as a reporter, co-host, analyst and on-camera personality.
