Keenan Allen

Keenan Allen is a citizen of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina. He is married and has four children.

Allen comes from an athletic family. He is the younger half-brother of quarterback Zach Maynard, with whom he shared a mother, Dorie Maynard-Lang, and stepfather, Scott Lang. The two played high school and collegiate football together. Allen is also the cousin of former NFL wide receiver Maurice Harris and a childhood friend of former NFL cornerback David Amerson. Outside of sports, Allen competed on television in 2023 on season nine of The Masked Singer under the persona "Gargoyle".

Allen attended Grimsley Senior High School before transferring to Northern Guilford High School in Greensboro, North Carolina. During his prep career, he was a standout two-way player in football, basketball, and track and field. As a senior in 2009, he earned high school All-American honors from USA Today and Parade, and was selected for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Rated a five-star recruit and the nation's top safety prospect, he initially committed to the University of Alabama before switching his commitment to the University of California, Berkeley to play wide receiver alongside his half-brother Zach Maynard.

At Cal from 2010 to 2012, Allen quickly developed into the focal point of the Golden Bears offense. As a sophomore in 2011, he recorded 98 receptions for 1,343 yards and earned First-team All-Pac-12 honors, teaming up with Maynard for a school-record 90-yard touchdown reception against the Washington Huskies. Despite missing the end of his junior season due to a knee injury, Allen departed Cal with a school-record 205 career receptions, alongside 2,570 receiving yards and 25 total touchdowns across 33 games.

Selected by the San Diego Chargers in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft with the 76th overall pick, Allen set franchise rookie records with 71 receptions and 1,046 receiving yards, earning the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year award. Over subsequent campaigns, he overcame major injuries, including a broken collarbone in 2014, a lacerated kidney in 2015, and an ACL tear in 2016. In 2017, he returned to play all 16 regular-season games, catching 102 passes for 1,393 yards and earning the AP NFL Comeback Player of the Year award alongside his first Pro Bowl selection.

Allen remained one of the league's premier route runners, securing five consecutive Pro Bowl selections from 2017 through 2021 and a sixth in 2023. In 2023, he recorded an 18-catch, 215-yard performance against the Minnesota Vikings that included a 49-yard touchdown pass to Mike Williams, making him the first player in NFL history with at least 15 receptions and a touchdown pass in a single game. Across his initial eleven-year tenure with the Chargers, he surpassed 10,000 career receiving yards.

In March 2024, Allen was traded to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick. In his lone season in Chicago, he caught 70 passes for 744 yards and seven touchdowns across 15 games, including two separate multi-touchdown performances against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions.

In August 2025, Allen rejoined the Chargers on a one-year contract. In Week 5 against the Washington Commanders, he became the fastest player in NFL history to reach 1,000 career receptions, reaching the milestone in 159 games. Later that season, in a Week 10 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, he broke Antonio Gates's franchise record for career receptions. In August 2026, Allen signed with the Indianapolis Colts.
