Cam Skattebo

Skattebo grew up in Rio Linda, California, as the son of Leonard and Becky Skattebo. He has three siblings, including a brother, Leonard, who played college football as a fullback at Bowling Green. Skattebo is of Norwegian and Portuguese descent.

He grew up watching professional wrestling with his late grandfather. In high school, teammates nicknamed him "Nature Boy" after sixteen-time world champion Ric Flair. In November 2025, Skattebo appeared in a staged scuffle on WWE Monday Night Raw alongside teammate Abdul Carter and comedian Andrew Schulz, shoving wrestler JD McDonagh during an in-ring confrontation.

At Rio Linda High School, Skattebo finished his prep career with 6,192 rushing yards and 69 touchdowns. During his junior season, he rushed for 3,550 yards and 42 touchdowns to lead Rio Linda to a CIF Division 5-A state title. He capped that campaign with 393 rushing yards in the state championship game.

Recruiting interest was sparse. Sacramento State was the only Division I program to offer him a scholarship. After the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Skattebo broke through in 2021 by rushing for 520 yards and six touchdowns on 57 carries. In 2022, he posted 1,372 rushing yards, caught 31 passes, and scored a touchdown on a 43-yard onside kick return. He earned Big Sky Offensive Player of the Year honors before entering the NCAA transfer portal.

Skattebo transferred to Arizona State in 2023. In addition to rushing for 783 yards and catching 24 passes, he completed six pass attempts and punted eight times for a 42.3-yard average. He was named a finalist for the Paul Hornung Award.

His 2024 senior campaign set school records. Skattebo rushed for 1,711 yards and 21 touchdowns while adding 605 receiving yards and three touchdowns through the air. In Week 2 against Mississippi State, he ran for 262 yards to secure a 30-23 win. He took Most Outstanding Player honors in the Big 12 Championship Game against Iowa State. In the Peach Bowl against Texas, Skattebo totaled 284 yards and became the first player from a losing team to win Peach Bowl Offensive MVP in 26 years.

The New York Giants selected Skattebo with the 105th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL draft. He signed his four-year rookie contract in June 2025 and made his regular season debut in Week 1 against the Washington Commanders. His first career touchdown came against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2.

In Week 6 on Thursday Night Football, Skattebo rushed for three touchdowns in a 34-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, matching a franchise rookie mark set by Charlie Evans in 1971. In Week 8 against the same opponent, Skattebo suffered a dislocated right ankle during the second quarter. The injury ended his rookie season after eight games, in which he totaled 410 rushing yards, 207 receiving yards, and seven total touchdowns.
