Jaden Newman

Newman began playing on Downey Christian School's varsity girls team in third grade. She became the youngest girl to surpass 1,000 career points at the varsity prep level, reaching the milestone by seventh grade. Her scoring also drew attention after she recorded 70 points in eighth grade, described as a national record.

She received her first Division I college offer at age nine and later collected more than a dozen offers, including offers associated with the University of Miami, Kentucky, and Louisville. Her stated ambition has been to become the first woman in the NBA. She later played as a guard for the Cal State Los Angeles Golden Eagles, wearing jersey number 20.

Newman developed as a basketball player alongside her older brother, Julian Newman, who also became known for his youth basketball career. Julian was featured in viral videos playing varsity basketball while he was in fifth grade, and the siblings became known as the youngest boy and girl to surpass 1,000 career points at the varsity prep level.

Jaden and Julian practiced together extensively, reportedly taking more than 500 shots each day and working on shooting from different angles. Their family basketball story became the basis of Hello Newmans, an Overtime docu-series.

In 2015, Newman attracted further attention by winning a three-point shooting contest against Stephen Curry. The event became one of the most notable early highlights of her public basketball career.

She also appeared on The Queen Latifah Show and in Hello Newmans. Her basketball performances and television appearances helped establish her public profile while she was still a young player.
