Gunna

Sergio Giavanni Kitchens was born on June 14, 1993, in College Park, Georgia. He was raised by his mother alongside four older brothers. He began creating music around the age of fifteen, influenced by artists such as Cam'ron, Chingy, and Outkast. During his youth, he attended multiple schools in the Atlanta area, including Creekside High School, Banneker High School, Langston Hughes High School, and North Springs Charter School of Arts and Sciences.

In 2013, Kitchens released the mixtape Hard Body under the stage name Yung Serg. A pivotal moment in his career came when a mutual acquaintance, Keith "King" Troup, introduced him to Atlanta rapper Young Thug. Following that connection, Kitchens was featured alongside Travis Scott and Gucci Mane on Young Thug's 2016 track "Floyd Mayweather", leading to his signing with Young Thug's YSL Records imprint.

Gunna released his commercial mixtape Drip Season through YSL Records in October 2016, followed by Drip Season 2 in May 2017, featuring appearances by Atlanta artists including Playboi Carti and Offset. Later in 2017, he released the collaborative extended play Drip or Drown, produced entirely by his friend and producer Wheezy.

His mainstream breakthrough arrived in February 2018 with the release of Drip Season 3, which included guest verses from Lil Durk, Nav, Metro Boomin, and Lil Yachty. In October 2018, Gunna and Lil Baby released their collaborative mixtape Drip Harder, which peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 chart. The project's lead single, "Drip Too Hard", reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100, earned a diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America, and received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap/Sung Performance.

Gunna released his debut studio album, Drip or Drown 2, in February 2019, peaking at number three on the Billboard 200. He also contributed guest verses to major hits, including Travis Scott's "Yosemite" and Internet Money's 2020 single "Lemonade". In May 2020, Gunna achieved his first number-one album on the Billboard 200 with his second studio album, Wunna.

His third studio album, DS4Ever (2022), became his second consecutive number-one album on the Billboard 200, debuting at the top spot ahead of The Weeknd's Dawn FM. Following legal proceedings in 2022, Gunna released his fourth studio album, A Gift & a Curse (2023), which debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 and spawned the top-ten single "FukUMean". He followed this with his fifth studio album, One of Wun, in May 2024.

In May 2022, Gunna and Young Thug were among 28 individuals associated with YSL Records charged in a 56-count indictment under Georgia's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act in Fulton County. Gunna turned himself in to law enforcement on May 11, 2022, and was held without bond awaiting trial.

On December 14, 2022, Gunna pleaded guilty to a single racketeering charge and was sentenced to five years in prison. The court commuted one year to time served and suspended the remainder of the sentence under probation terms, including 500 hours of community service, resulting in his release from custody that same day.
