Dylan Efron

Dylan Efron was born in San Luis Obispo, California, and grew up in Arroyo Grande. His birth name is Nicholas Dylan Harrison Efron, and he was named after folk singer Bob Dylan because of his mother Starla Baskett's admiration for the musician.

Efron attended California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics in 2013. He is the younger brother of actor Zac Efron, and the brothers became closer after Dylan graduated from college and moved to Los Angeles for his first job.

Efron began his entertainment career in physical production. His credits include work as a production coordinator on American Sniper, The Accountant, Live by Night, and Ready Player One. He also worked on Jersey Boys, Live by Night, and A Star Is Born, the latter as a production assistant.

He moved into producing through Down to Earth with Zac Efron, serving as a producer on 16 episodes of the travel and sustainability docuseries. The series received a Daytime Emmy Award, and Dylan appeared in several episodes alongside Zac. He has also been credited as a producer on By Hand and as an actor in the 2026 music video for Megan Moroney's song "Wish I Didn't."

Efron's work with Zac Efron combines production, travel, and environmental storytelling. As a producer and on-screen participant in Down to Earth with Zac Efron, he contributed to a series focused on global cultures, sustainable living, and exploration.

Since 2019, Dylan and Zac have also appeared in Off the Grid, an outdoor series hosted on Zac's YouTube channel. The program follows the brothers as they undertake trips and activities away from electronic devices. Dylan has additionally hosted Flow State, a series built around demanding outdoor challenges and adventure-based storytelling.

In 2025, Efron competed as a Faithful on the third season of Peacock's reality competition series The Traitors. His strategic play and ability to assess the other contestants helped him reach the finale.

Dylan won the season alongside fellow Faithfuls Dolores Catania, Lord Ivar Mountbatten, and Gabby Windey. His participation marked a major shift from his earlier behind-the-scenes film work to a prominent role as a reality television personality.

Efron competed on season 34 of ABC's Dancing with the Stars, partnering with professional dancer Daniella Karagach. His athletic background and intensive training carried him through to the season finale.

He placed fourth in the competition. The season added another televised performance credit to a career that had previously centered on film production, digital media, and outdoor adventure.

Outdoor recreation is a central part of Efron's public work and social media presence. He has participated in triathlons, including the Malibu Triathlon, and completed IRONMAN Arizona in under 10 hours and 30 minutes. He has also shared activities such as surfing, kayaking, skateboarding, rock climbing, hiking, fly fishing, and free diving.

Efron has been in a relationship with Courtney King, whom he describes as his high school sweetheart, since at least 2016. He also adopted a dog named Booey in 2021 and regularly features the dog in his social media posts.
