Early life and musical beginnings
Fike grew up in Naples, Florida, and learned to play guitar at the age of 10. He was influenced by Jack Johnson, Blink-182, the Strokes, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. During high school, he began uploading music online and released a YouTube recording titled "Not a Word."
Around 2014, Fike began rapping under the alias L$G, short for Lord Space Goat. He and his older stepbrother Sean, who performed as Slyte, freestyled with friends at a gathering place known as the Backhouse. Fike also became associated with the Naples rap collective Lame Boyz Entertainment, whose initials he tattooed on his forehead.
His childhood involved frequent moves between the homes of relatives, older siblings, and family friends. His mother, Jessica Fike, and father, David Mills, were frequently absent during parts of his upbringing, and Fike has described relying on his siblings for support.
Breakthrough with Don't Forget About Me, Demos
Fike first attracted attention through popular SoundCloud songs and beats made with producer Hunter Pfeiffer, also known as 54. He recorded Don't Forget About Me, Demos while under house arrest for battery of a police officer. After violating the terms of that house arrest, he served time at Collier County Jail.
The EP prompted interest from multiple record labels, and Columbia Records released it in October 2018. Its single "3 Nights" reached the top 10 in Australia, Ireland, and the United Kingdom, while reviews from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and Billboard highlighted Fike's genre-meshing style.
Fike followed the EP with collaborations including Kevin Abstract's "Peach," Halsey's "Dominic's Interlude," and Justin Bieber's "Die for You." His debut studio album, What Could Possibly Go Wrong, was released in July 2020 and charted in the top 50 in the United States and Australia. He also became a headliner for the Fortnite concert series in 2020.
Euphoria and acting work
In 2022, Fike joined the second season of HBO's Euphoria in his first main acting role. He played Elliot, a teenager whose storyline connected him with the show's central characters. The role earned Fike a nomination for Best Kiss at the MTV Movie & TV Awards, shared with Hunter Schafer.
Fike later appeared as Miles in Earth Mama and as AJ in Little Death. His screen credits also include the documentary series The New York Times Presents and the music video Jennie & Dominic Fike: Love Hangover. He was considered for the role of Patrick in Challengers, which was ultimately played by Josh O'Connor.
