Chuando Tan

Chuando Tan is the youngest son of the renowned painter Tan Tee Chie.

He was born in Singapore and began his public career as a model before moving into photography.

Tan began modeling in Singapore in the 1980s. After more than a decade in front of the camera, he transitioned to fashion and celebrity photography in his late 20s.

He met his photography collaborator Frey in 2006, and the pair later co-founded Chuando & Frey. Their work is known for cinematic lighting and moody imagery, and has appeared in L'Officiel, L'Officiel Hommes, Harper's Bazaar Singapore, Elle, Allure and ION Orchard. The studio has also worked with Louis Vuitton, Levi's, L'Oréal and other international brands.

Tan and Frey photographed the album cover for Janet Jackson's 2008 album Discipline. Their celebrity subjects have included Rita Ora, Janet Jackson, Shu Qi and Rosamund Kwan.

Tan first went viral in 2017, when he was 51, after social-media users reacted to his youthful appearance and sculpted physique. His Instagram account, @chuando_chuandoandfrey, has featured behind-the-scenes photography and attracted more than two million followers.

Three years after his viral breakthrough, Tan made his acting debut as a lead character in Disney+'s Precious Is the Night. He marked his 60th birthday with an Instagram post about aging, time and gratitude, prompting renewed online discussion about his appearance.

Tan has attributed his vitality to long-standing habits that include compound weight exercises such as squats, lunges, bench presses and pull-ups. He also makes time for sunlight for vitamin D and has acknowledged that he has occasional lazy days.

His approach to food emphasizes natural ingredients in their simplest forms, while he avoids processed food. Tan has said that mindset and diet are important to overall well-being, and that maintaining vitality becomes increasingly important as the body loses energy with age.
