Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho married Jessica Lockhart on July 30, 2000. They have three children: son Ash Edward Irvine and identical twin daughters Sierra Loretta Irvine and Cheyenne Lee Irvine.

His children have appeared on his podcast, Talk Is Jericho, where Ash discussed fish and his daughters discussed literature. Jericho holds dual American and Canadian citizenships.

Jericho entered the Hart Brothers School of Wrestling at 19 and made his professional debut on October 2, 1990, in Ponoka, Alberta, wrestling Lance Storm to a ten-minute time-limit draw. The two later worked together as the tag team Sudden Impact and competed in Canada and Japan. In Smoky Mountain Wrestling, they became the Thrillseekers under promoter Jim Cornette.

Jericho developed his international reputation through appearances in Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling, Mexico's Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, and Japan's Wrestling and Romance promotion. Wrestling as Leon D'Oro and Corazón de León in Mexico, he won the NWA World Middleweight Championship in December 1993 and held it for 11 months. In WAR, he won the International Junior Heavyweight Championship and the International Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship with Gedo.

He joined Extreme Championship Wrestling in 1996 after Mick Foley helped bring his work to the attention of Paul Heyman. Jericho defeated Pitbull #2 to win the ECW World Television Championship, and his matches with wrestlers including Rob Van Dam, Shane Douglas, and 2 Cold Scorpio helped lead to his move to World Championship Wrestling.

Jericho debuted in WCW in 1996 and became a prominent figure in its cruiserweight division. He won the WCW Cruiserweight Championship four times and the WCW World Television Championship once. His rivalry with Dean Malenko produced the "Man of 1,004 Holds" character, while his title feud with Juventud Guerrera culminated in a Cruiserweight Championship versus mask match at SuperBrawl VIII.

He entered the WWF in August 1999 after a countdown campaign introduced him as Y2J. Jericho won the Intercontinental Championship from Chyna at Armageddon that year and later became involved in major programs with The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, and Chris Benoit.

At Vengeance in December 2001, Jericho defeated The Rock for the World Championship and Austin for the WWF Championship on the same night. The victories made him the first Undisputed WWF Champion. He later became a six-time world champion in WWE and a record nine-time Intercontinental Champion.

Jericho returned to WWE in 2007 after a cryptic binary-code campaign. During his subsequent run, he hosted The Highlight Reel, introduced the Codebreaker, won the Intercontinental Championship for an eighth time, and developed a critically acclaimed feud with Shawn Michaels. Their 2008 rivalry was named Feud of the Year by both Pro Wrestling Illustrated and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Jericho won the World Heavyweight Championship in 2008 and regained it later that year after losing it to Batista. In 2009, he teamed with Edge and then Big Show, forming Jeri-Show after Edge suffered an injury. Jericho and Big Show held the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship and became one of WWE's prominent tag teams.

His later WWE appearances included rivalries with CM Punk, Dolph Ziggler, Fandango, AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, and Kevin Owens. His partnership with Owens produced the popular "List of Jericho" character and led to Jericho winning the United States Championship in 2017. His final WWE in-ring appearance was at the Greatest Royal Rumble in April 2018.

Jericho returned to New Japan Pro-Wrestling in 2017 for a match against Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 12. Although he lost the match, he later defeated Tetsuya Naito to win the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. That victory made him the first wrestler to hold both the WWE and IWGP versions of the Intercontinental Championship.

In 2019, Jericho joined All Elite Wrestling. He defeated Kenny Omega at Double or Nothing and Adam Page at All Out to become the inaugural AEW World Champion. His reign lasted 182 days before he lost the title to Jon Moxley.

Jericho formed The Inner Circle with Sammy Guevara, Jake Hager, Santana, and Ortiz. Later AEW storylines included his partnership with Kevin Owens, the Jericho Appreciation Society, The Learning Tree character, and alliances with Kenny Omega and Sammy Guevara. He has also won the ROH World Championship twice and the FTW Championship once.

Jericho became the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Fozzy in 1999. The band released its debut album, Fozzy, in 2000 and later moved from primarily performing cover versions to recording original material. Fozzy's albums include Happenstance, All That Remains, Chasing the Grail, Sin and Bones, Do You Wanna Start a War, Judas, and Boombox.

He has also performed guest vocals for projects connected with Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Bullet for My Valentine, Devin Townsend, and Michael Sweet. In addition to music, Jericho hosted the radio program The Rock of Jericho and began the interview podcast Talk Is Jericho in 2013.

His screen work includes the films MacGruber, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, Terrifier 2, Terrifier 3, and Dark Match. He hosted Downfall and Robot Combat League, competed on Dancing with the Stars, and appeared as the character Bride on The Masked Singer. His autobiographies include A Lion's Tale, Undisputed, The Best in the World...At What I Have No Idea, and No Is a Four-Letter Word.

Jericho is known for changing his wrestling persona across different periods, including Y2J, Lionheart, the Painmaker, Le Champion, the Demo God, and The Learning Tree. His use of talk segments, theatrical entrances, and evolving characters became central to his presentation in WWE, NJPW, and AEW.

He was inducted into the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame in 2010 and the Canadian Pro-Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2023. He was also voted Wrestling Observer Newsletter Wrestler of the Year in 2008, 2009, and 2019, and Best on Interviews in several years.

The province of Manitoba awarded him a Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal in 2023. Winnipeg also renamed part of the street where he grew up as Chris Jericho Way.
