Chilli is an American singer and actress known for her work as a member of the R&B girl group TLC. She is also known for appearing in What Chilli Wants and for producing the biopic CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story.
Personal life
Chilli has one son, Tron Austin, with producer Dallas Austin. She is also the grandmother of Lua Wang Austin.
She is African-American and has Bengali Indian, African-Caribbean, and Native American ancestry. She was reunited with her long-lost father on an episode of Sally Jessy Raphael in 1983.
Joining TLC
Chilli was the last member to join TLC. LaFace Records selected her to replace former member Crystal Jones, completing the group with Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes.
Before joining TLC, she worked as a backup dancer for the R&B duo Damian Dame. She later released three albums with Tionne Watkins after Lopes's death and appeared with Watkins on the charity album "What's Going On?"
Television and film appearances
Chilli appeared in the reality television series What Chilli Wants in 2010. She also had small roles in That '70s Show, The Parkers, and Single Ladies.
She competed in the second season of the Food Network series Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off in 2013. In the same year, actress Keke Palmer portrayed her in the biopic CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story, on which Chilli served as a producer.
She appeared in the music video for Tyrese's 2012 song "Nothing On You."
