Bayne Froney

Bayne Froney was born on October 1, 1999, in Livonia, Michigan. She spent much of her childhood in Michigan and lived in Shanghai, China, for about three years. She attended Livonia Stevenson High School, where she competed on the swim team.

Froney studied at Arizona State University, earning bachelor's degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Supply Chain Management. She was also a student at Barrett, the Honors College, and worked with Cronkite News as a sustainability and weather reporter. She later earned a Master of Science in Geoscience with a concentration in Applied Meteorology from Mississippi State University in December 2023 while working full-time as a meteorologist.

Froney began her television career at KERO-TV, also known as 23ABC, in Bakersfield, California. Through the E.W. Scripps Journalism Career Program, she worked as a multimedia journalist and weekend weather anchor.

The position combined local reporting with weather presentation and helped guide her toward broadcast meteorology. She covered stories in Kern County before leaving the station in May 2021.

In 2021, Froney joined KXXV-TV in Waco, Texas, as a meteorologist, anchor and multimedia journalist. Her work there included storm chases and coverage of an EF-3 tornado that struck Salado, Texas.

The Texas role gave Froney experience reporting dangerous weather in the field while continuing to present forecasts and local news. She then joined WLEX-TV, also known as LEX 18, in Lexington, Kentucky, in 2022.

At WLEX-TV, Froney covered severe thunderstorms, flooding, winter storms and tornado outbreaks affecting central Kentucky. She worked at the station for nearly three years and became familiar to viewers across the region.

While working full-time in Lexington, she completed her master's degree in geoscience with applied meteorology from Mississippi State University. She left WLEX in June 2025 for a national broadcasting opportunity.

FOX Weather announced Froney's appointment as an on-air meteorologist in May 2025. She began the role on June 16, 2025, at the network's headquarters in New York City, moving from local forecasting in Kentucky to national weather coverage.

At FOX Weather, Froney has covered winter storms, heavy snowfall and hurricane-related weather. Her appearances have also included coverage from Texas, Vermont's Sugarbush resort and Times Square, as well as FOX Weather's Beach House and Ski House special programming.
